Sari Style

Neena attended the launch of an audio book app wearing an emerald green sari and matching blouse. As much as I have a weakness for this color, I really wish, she’d worn the sari with a green potli instead of the red one. It just felt too jarring against the delish green color.

  1. This look has a Christmas-tree-like feel to it. The material is shiny and the blouse has fit issues. Even so, I like this look. Ms.Gupta has worn a ‘normal’ blouse and the sari is neatly draped. What’s more, the sari actually looks like a sari! On these pages, we have seen the sari being taken apart to create one monstrous ‘design’ after the other. So this comes as a pleasant surprise.

  2. A green potli would have been too matchy. Nina Gupta has always had a distinct style sense that doesn’t confer to expectations and rules and she has the face and grace to pull it off.

  3. I really like how the monochrome looks so modern, and at the same time, so vintage. Neenaji looks beautiful. The red accessories are cheerful and festive. Gunmetal accents via clutch and bracelets would be a nice pick for another outing, I think.

  4. You do know green & red are complimentary colours and therefore perfect with each other?
It’s actually the jewellery thats not going with the outfit.

  5. She looks nice but definitely needs a darker lipstick and Kohl on her lower lids too
Otherwise she looks stuck in the badhai ho mode for a long while now

  6. I have to say we hate younger women in these pages. Not a single comment about the blouse revealing drape in this post. Any younger actress with that drape would be trolled. I say this to defend that drape. People have been wearing the saree that way for ages.
