Vignesh and Nayanthara co-ordinated in beige at the Merchant-Ambani wedding and again, I loved seeing Vignesh opt for a Veshti and she looked lovely in her sari. But, I do feel like her sari was a bit too casual for the event.

  1. I do not find anything casual about her saree. Sequins are not necessary to make a saree formal. This is a classic Mallu meets Tamil Nadu look. It’s got that beautiful checked South Indian pattern and that color is so delicious. I love.

  2. I don’t think the saree is too casual for an acquaintance’s summer wedding. Just that we have got so used to the whole concept of dressing to the hilt, almost as if one were the bride, that a simple and regular look seems casual. This entire jamboree – with a zillion functions – has been particularly over-the-top & a regular and elegant look seems jarring not because it isn’t appropriate, but because it is!

    • Exactly! She is perfect. That’s how you dress up to go to someone else’s wedding.
Most seem to have forgotten the boundary between their and someone else’s wedding.

  3. Please !! It’s not casual. This is how you must dress to someone’s wedding. I hate how bling has become so normalized. What has happened to us ?

  4. She is looking lovely as usual. I see she try to maintain her signature look wherever she goes. Bollywood celebrities should learn from her how to keep it simple even without wearing any bling outfits like a Christmas tree. One thing i wish for a chance is her makeup with smoky eye. Hope she’ll discover anything new that suits her facial figure next time..

  5. She sticks to her signature look and looks good while at jt. Maybe rubies or emeralds for some contrast in jewels would have looked better. Otherwise, great for someone’s wedding who isn’t really family or a friend

  6. I don’t think it’s too casual at all. That saree has zari woven throughout the body and the border is solid zari/tissue. Sure, maybe a darker colour may have shown it off better, but saying it’s too casual is basically giving heed to the more over the top and flashier, the better. No, this is a formal saree in a muted shade. I love it, and I also love that it gives shades of Kerala, too. I would wear this to any summer wedding and just make it less or more formal with accessories and styling.

I only would have liked to see some brighter jewelry as a nice contrast to the saree – not grander just a different colour. After seeing this couple and Jyothika-Surya, I feel like the less blingy makes such a better fashion statement. My eyes have been glazing over on practically every other guest.

  7. Love it. I too feel it’s on point much like the other commenters.

So far I’ve really liked Vidya, Jyothika, Nayanthara, and Kiara’s looks. The sarees are gorgeous and I can’t get enough of them.

  8. I agree with you Payal. Even on the nost glamorous occasions she dresses too casual. Here shes looking like shes going to a bollywood party and not a wedding.
