In Chanel

In their India-inspired Chanel gowns, Naomi and Penelope stood out at the Met Gala instantly for me but between the two, Naomi in her bejewelled sari-inspired salmon pink gown was the one I was lusting over. She looked amazing in it.

As for Penelope, I personally don’t think she and the brand are a good match (they just always seem to put her gowns that do nothing for her) but this one was one of her better outings.

  1. Tbh what Naomi wore is like the luxury label version of saree gowns and pre stitched sarees in India. But she does look good.

P Cruz’s outfit has a Spanish nod I think and she looks good. In my view Chanel has a limited Parisian aesthetic. One can like but best left alone if that is not your vibe. Which probably accounts for the mismatch between brand and Penelope.

  2. Naomi’s overall look is not very far from our very own MM and AJSK looks.

Penelope’s look, imho, is veering more towards a middle eastern vibe than an Indian vibe.

But both Penelope and Naomi with those faces, can sell anything I guess. I mean just look at how gorgeous they look for their age.

  3. Naomi had me at that colour. I thought Isha Ambani looked stunning in her Sari inspired gown. It had drama and stayed within the theme.

    • Noami’s saree- the color , the material , the blouse, none of them work for me individually. And honestly even together on someone else I dount it would look any good at all.But togethr on HER, it all comes together ,like pieces of a puzzle.
Penelope- that smile , dead lol ! But that dress , i dont know why but it gives me mourning dress vibes sadly ….

  4. didnt feel the the silver floral motifs on the blouse part of the gown. had anyone in bollywood worn the same outfit, your commets wouldn’t have been the same. Just because she is a super model cant give the outfit a pass..just saying

  5. loved naomi’s look but don’t get what’s so desi about penelope — it’s a major nod to her spanish heritage, i think.

  6. Penelope looks striking but naomi’s outfit is lacklustre and doesn’t suit her. Apparently isha ambani was there as well. I’d love to see what she was wearing.

  7. Naomi is wearing a sober version of Manish Malhotra and Suneet Verma’s designs..

That said. she does look spectacular.

  8. Naomi looks fabulous. And this gown is how a sari inspired gown is done. The lines and flow are all perfect. Not at all shabby like the sari gowns we keep getting from bollywood.

  10. Gown, saree, whatever it may be, Naomi looks fabulous in it! The color, cut, accessories, makeup, her ethereal face…I love everything about this.

  11. Naomi’s entire look is very run-off-the-mill but she does wear it extremely well and everything right down to her lip color look very complementary. But pray tell what exactly is the Indian inspiration in Penelope’s look ? Like someone said above , it seems like a Middle Eastern inspiration rather than an Indian one.

  12. Was breaking my head trying to figure out how Naomi’s outfit was relevant to the theme, her being one of Lagerfeld’s closest collaborators!! Looks like she went archival way wearing a dress from Chanel’s 2010 couture collection designed by Karl L. Mystery solved – I can sleep in peace now. 🙂

  13. Naomi looks phenomanal in a gown which could move to tacky territory on anyone else. The styling is on point.

Penelope Cruz looks great hip up. Not liking the skirt part of the gown. And what is Indian about this outfit?

But man, these ladies are glowing!
