In The House Of Patola

Mouni attended a poster unveiling for her movie (Bombay Stories) at Cannes and wore a body-hugging gown from The House Of Patola featuring the classic fish motif. I have seen plenty of gowns being made using Indian handloom and not every design turns out good. This gown actually turned out well with the all over patola making up the main dress and the contrast blue train. Also, deserves a re-wear. Hope Mouni is listening.

  1. Doesn’t stand out or look as great, rather worn losely.. This could’ve been worn home or anywhere. Overall, the desperation to appropriate at a French film festival has been embarrassing.

  2. Beautiful dress/fit and beautiful colours.

If it was me then I would re-wear this gown a couple of times and then remove the train and shorten the dress similar to the white one Nayan wore recently. It would turn out as an amazing summer dress that would get more wears than this gown.

  3. The need to appropriate culturally has been huge this year, which is okay, I think. Finally for whatever reason we are wearing our handlooms, I am so glad to see this. The colors look amazing here and the Patola standing out is beautiful, But the satin looks cheap and creased, or is it just in the photo? I like how Mouni refrained from where heavy jewellary.

  4. The dress is pretty but the train looks like an afterthought and it reminds me of a peacock costume i wore to a fancy dress event when i was a child and my mum had to pin the feathers on me.
