Wearing a pink skirt custom made for the occasion by Naeem Khan, the First Lady celebrated Diwali at the White House.

Anyone else getting an Manish Arora-esque vibe from the skirt?

  1. I don’t see anything super Diwali-esque about this outfit. I wish she went for an Indian designer (living in India) and worn a mix of indian and western outfit.

  2. Diwali relevance of the outfit aside, I love the skirt and it’s fit on her. But that long strong of pearls has to go. Looks totally out of place. A pair of diins studs would have been enough.
Oh and she finally grew her bags out. What a difference a good hairstyle can make!

  3. That garland, how cute!
Agree with above, there is nothing diwali about that outfit, but guess she didn’t want to look too Indianized to look relevant to Americans.

  4. Very cool gesture towards the occasion. The rose / lotus at the center and starburst design in bright colours is very Indian. And no, Michelle Obama can not go more Indian than that.
