Maxi(mized)

Wearing a sleeveless floral maxi, Madhuri attended Priyanka’s party in Mumbai on Wednesday evening. A black clutch and layered necklaces finished out her look.

I have to admit, seeing her sport a maxi came as a bit of a surprise. It was nice to see her do something casual. Like what you see?

  1. I really do like what I see. Perhaps I would have changed the lipstick – not one for dark glossy lips. But love the flirty maxi look on her. Somehow, even manages to look age appropriate ! Very nice

  2. I like the idea of a maxi but the face is way too made up. Casually tousled hair and minimal make up would’ve really pulled this look. I find most of the 90’s actresses (Madhuri, Raveena, Juhi) are stuck in that era’s heavy handed makeup + minimal experimentation with clothes, mostly Indian outfits.

  3. Priyanka’s dress code memo was obviously “casual”. But for Madhuri, one must always create a custom memo that says “sari only”. That’s the only thing she can do well (most of the time).

    • ‘Maxi’ is actually a ‘length’ of an outfit. Any outfit which is upto one’s ankle/feet is maxi. Now maxi can be a one piece dress commonly referred as ‘maxi dress’ or a full length skirt called as ‘maxi skirt’, though the term ‘MAXI’ n ‘MAXI DRESS’ are often used interchangeably n commenly used in ‘casual’ context! Maxi or maxi dresses are free flowing, of light fabric and are NOT structured! Gown whereas is something more formal (of course of full length) n is lot more dressy! Now, there can be structured gowns or even free flowing ones but are formal n dressier when compared to maxis. Here in picture what Madhuri is wearing is ‘maxi dress’ or ‘maxi’ as you can notice it is not very formal enough to be put under the category of ‘gown’!
