LFW Winter/Festive 2010: Shyamal And Bhumika

Shyamal and Bhumika’s collection is sure to find plenty of takers in the coming wedding/festive season. Ornate saris, lehengas, kurta-churidaars, and for the men, sherwanis, kurtas and bundgalas made up the collection. Festive colors and work like zardozi, zari and gotta and embroideries dominated. Though the heavy velvets aren’t for us, the silks and brocades were pretty. If you were looking for something “novel”, this isn’t for you… A collection for the more traditional trousseau this one.

  1. beautiful bridal wear if a bit predictable but I guess tradition is what most indian brides want on their wedding day, there are other times to be cutting edge and different. I know you all seem to have a major velvet phobia but I quite like the velvet blouses with the kaam along with the sarees. It can look rich when a little touch is added. I especially like that green saree with the red blouse – stunning!

the entire collection though is very meh…
i love the brocade and embroidery. im so over the crystals and beads and pearls … but the only 2 designers who really do this well is JJ and Rohit Bal

Love all the mens wear. From what i can see, the jewelry is also nice.
Also nice is the green sari with red blouse combi. And the red sari with black shawl reminds me of Ash frrom Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

    • I also love the mens wear..it’s rich and flamboyant…the green one looks royal.

I like most of the stuff the women have on, and the velvet looks GOOD. Shows how good craftsmanship and great design are the key factors for a look

Like how the velvet dupatta brings a contrast to the heavy lehenga in teh 3rd pic of teh 1st row, while in the next pic it acts as teh focal point..It may be traditional fare, but I am inpressed by teh designer’s work!!!!
