LFW Winter Festive 2010: Rehane and Ravage By Raj Shroff

The dominating theme of Rehane‘s festive collection was the gold cutwork design featuring in just about all the outfits: from scarves to pant hems to sari borders. Besides that, multi patch horizontally embroidered stripes also were featured heavily in dresses, sari borders and tunics. While I loved the pieces featuring the cutwork, wasn’t a big fan of the patchwork ones. They looked messy vs aesthetic, up close.

Ravage reemerged after a long hiatus minus designer Neetu Gupta. The label, now being headed by just Raj Shroff presented a collection that touted it as being targeted towards the free spirited nature of the New Age bride. And so, there were no heavily embellished lehengas with equally heavy cholis and dupattas but more simple but heavily layered looks made striking by way of color. For the bride, who wants to do it differently, this indeed is the collection for her.

  1. I really want to like the Ravage collection for the color layering, but it all seems so dis-oriented. I am not sure if this collection will find any takers even among the new-age brides in India? Maybe for a kitschy party but a wedding?
