Lara On HiBlitz: (Un)Covered

Comment image 27

One look at Lara on the latest cover of HiBlitz channeling an apsara and I cannot but help remember Rekha from Utsav. Considering the theme is ‘Apsaras From The Golden Era‘, wonder if Rekha is featured in the editorial? If not in real, then perhaps in tribute.

Rekha references aside, Ms. Dutta is looking quite ethereal herself! This is such a departure from the same ole covers and I love it although Priyanka doesn’t like it at all.The cover reminds her too much of the campy posters used to promote tourism back in seventies/eighties.

What say you about the cover?

  1. Agreed that the cover looks different and seems fresh.
Wish it was someone other than lara though. Someone with better facial features. Like nandita das, chithrangadha, deepika etc.

  3. Her arm just doesn’t look right to me. It looks overphotoshopped. Plus there’s the gold glitter on her body which always struck me as very tacky.

  4. Sorry to say this, but how can one compare Lara Dutta with Rekha? Rekha is so so feminine, so Indian, timeless.

Lara Dutt might be stylish, but she is not half as gorgeous as Rekha is. In fact, she can be a bit masculine at times!!

And if she is trying to strike a Bharatnatyam pose, sorry again, she does NOT get it right at ALL! She needs to take classes from Ash for this one, first lesson being “grace”!

    • I agree on the last part about the cover not being graceful. Ash is so graceful and so poised, unlike Lara here. I hate this cover…super-tacky.

    • agree..rekha and anuradha patel had tons of jewellery on them in utsav. though havent seen lara in this avatar, wish they had real jewellery on her.the tacky gold tatoo with hairpiece and kadas doesnt make her apsara-like!

  6. agree with divya. no comparison to Rekha who looks drop dead gorgeous in utsav. the woman has omph oozing out of her skin. Lara is pretty but no comparison. the pic here is ethereal…not sure what being an Apsara has to do with fashion! I must be missing something here.

  7. As much as I love Lara, this cover would have looked fabulous with a curvier model.
Lara does look good, but not Apsara-like. IMO, even Sonakshi would have fared better.

  8. This is a very different type of cover, compared to the usual designer outfits.

Also Lara is a trained classical dancer – I remember her answering one of the questions in Miss Universe and demonstrating the gestures to Sinbad!

  9. this cover is a good attempt. Her face is pretty, but the pose and the glitter/vaseline on her neck is just ugly. She doesn’t look original with the dance poses but I can see where they were trying to go with this. They didnt make it though!

  11. This is more of a Balinese dancer styling and pose. love the cover. The choice of Lara is very interesting. Someone with more “Indian” looks would probably be the first thing to come to mind, but this makes it more interesting and conversation worthy.

  12. OOo Love the cover.. only wish Shekhar Suman would have been on it. One letching look from him and this cover would’ve be the stuff legends are made of *smirks*
