After wearing a feather-accented gown for the Filmfare do, Kubra went the more casual route in denim shorts, a Cartoon Network X Nandita Mahtani sweatshirt and pair of sneakers for a recent launch. Dressed-up or dressed-down, she made both looks work for her.

  1. What was with the boobfest with Sonam and Kubra at the Filmfare event in MUSCAT, OMAN of all the places? I can understand being risqué but this is taking it to a diplomatic incident level. Reel it back ladies.

    • Sounds “puerile and puritanical”;)
Oman hasn’t raised a note verbale to the boobfest imho. Maybe they expected it when they agreed to host Bollywood brigade.

      • I know that I sound “puerile and puritanical”, but we don’t want to see a Samantha situation from SEX AND THE CITY 2.

    • So my mother attended those awards in Oman and she told me later, the emcee was wearing one revealing dress (guessing she was referring to Kubra?)! I was really surprised too, given that I grew up there and know how traditional and conservative Oman can be (I remember Russell Peters coming down for a show there in 2012 and the organisers started freaking out when he decided to launch into one of ladies belonging to the Omani royal family who happened to be sitting in the front row, if I remember correctly. But as we all said then, its Russell Peters, what were you expecting, that he tone it down for Oman?). I haven’t lived in Oman for a while now and of course, attitudes must be and are clearly changing. Tourism is becoming a major source of revenue and I guess if they are welcome to hosting such events as part of the whole marketing and branding thing, they are presumably OK with the dress code that comes with it as well.

      • The thing is that these ideas of liberty and conservatism are a constantly shifting reality in the Middle East. I mean the story is most weird next door in KSA where one moment women are being allowed to drive and the next, young girls are fleeing and applying for asylum while in transit at airports. Now Oman is certainly not KSA but it is wise to just be a bit respectful when in a different environment.

  2. At first I thought she was Sonam Kapoor. Why are celebrities starting to look so alike? This never happened in the 80s and 90s…

Well, in a world where even Kajol felt pressurised to lighten her skin, I guess maintaining your individuality is a little difficult 🙁
