Sari Style

Not all of you are fans of Konkona’s pared down, earthy and more often than not, very basic style. Does her latest appearance from a recent press meet help change your mind? We for one thought she looked nice, even if the look in itself was rather tad too severe.

  1. She is good to go a) If she is going to a funeral b) Visiting someone in a hospital. While I like earthy and basic looks, this one is more of an ayyah look . Actually strike that even they won’t wear such cheap looking vests as blouses.

  2. @malaise… That’s a phone cover that looks like a cassette tape….probably the only cheery thing in the funereal look
My 60 year old mom saw this PIC and says ‘ I have cheerier clothes than this’

  3. sari is really nice, but konkana insists on that scrunchy look that is downright dumpy. I can see a nice grayish-silver blouse, heavy, antique silver earrings and a chunky kada or oxidized silver cuff bracelet doing the work. A sleek do jooda complete the look.

  4. I love her style – very simple and just her 🙂 I’m not too fond of her bag choice .. but mostly like her in what she picks.

    • And may I ask whats wrong in that, activism and communism. I think you are tying to ask is why do we gravitate towards traditional weaves. I think Bengal is very proud of its heritage, which translates in our fashion, in fact the best designers Sabyasachi, Anamika Khanna, Kallol Dutta are all from Bengal. I believe Ritu Kumar started her work from Bengal.
Not for the sake of argument just to broaden horizons, some Bengali women viz. Nayonika Chatterjee, Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Mindy Kaling (mothers side), Dia Mirza, Tapur Chaterjee, Bipasha Basu, Sharmila Tagore…..

    • when you start a comment by saying “not to be sexist, racist, homophobic”, chances are you are doing exactly that. Also perhaps many of us Bengali women dress for comfort and showcasing outfits that showcase traditional weaves rather than going chammak challo with bling., As BongGirl pointed out, there’s such a broad range of Bengali actresses and models who wear diverse range of clothing.

  5. Everyone on these pages love to go on about how great konkanas dressing is, even though she often wears the dowdiest of ethnic wear in the dullest of colours she can find. The above is a case in point.

  6. Dowdy drab and unimaginative

P&P – I think you got the event description incomplete – I think you meant Political meet? but wait, there the saree color would be white or offwhite…
