In Pankaj & Nidhi

For the first screening of Dhobi Ghat at the 54th BFI London Film Festival, it was Pankaj & Nidhi again for director Kiran Rao. Love the comfy-casual dress but oh-no at the boots. Would’ve rather seen her wear stockings and ankle booties to beat the cold.

    • Oh u r right. The dress is too long for her, no ?
The cinch appears at the waist on the model and at the hips on Kiran. Almost like an arrow to the crotch.
Despite that, it looks pretty ok on her. Agree with PnP’c comment on ankle boots and stockings.
U know when i am dressing, i am starting to get what should be paired with what. But its just that i dont own so many different bags and shoes and what nots. So i can understand how Kiran ended up looking like this.

      • It dress looks three sizes bigger that what it should be ! no wonder the cinched waist doesn’t show , she’s ruined the outfit and lets not go to the boots to top it all!

  1. I feel she’s wearing a very awkward length.Look at the dress on the model..Joe Mathews …Kiran’s dress seems so much longer for her frame.I do like the dress though! And ankle boots would be so nice with it!

  2. every time you post something about Kiran Rao and people say she is trying too hard, i always kept silent because i wasn’t really sure. maybe she just has a bohemian fashion sense. but this does it ! very ridiculous look and i think the model looks far better in the outfit. the boots are so slouchy, she looks homeless in this ensemble!

    • frizzy hair, manic grin! the only saving grace is for once, she’s wearing decent glasses and not one of those pink owl framed atrocities!

  4. Kiran Rao is one the most horribly dressed film star wives. I can never understand how you guys like her dressing sense. I am all for comfy-casual, but you don’t have to come off looking like a clown, and here, she definitely does!

    • So agree!
only after reading hhc, i came to understand the meaning of “quirky” is actually “dressing up horribly”
what in the world is “she carries it off”? she doesn’t carry off anything!

  5. Don’t know who this Kiran Rao is, but when I look at this photo I feel like narrating the Old Spice commercial…Look at the model, now look at Kiran, look back at the model and keep looking at her because Kiran looks awful. What looks so great on the model looks ridiculous on this Kiran gal. And no, a grin and a so-called “quirky” sense of style does not redeem this at all. Has she never heard of something called alteration?!

  6. Even if you forget the height difference for a bit, the dress is so well fitted on the model, how come it’s so roomy and comfy on Kiran? It seems like a customized version of the original!

  7. High heel guys are way too biased on this lady. It’s unfair on the people you guys give a thumbs down and “what the heyy”
Just look at the dress-it’s so ill fitted on Kiran !!
And those boot..! what’s comfy to u guys is that she thinks she looks great and there is no diva like her-and thus poses happily-but it’s such a pity-she looks funny!

  8. Quirky or just plain weird, I think she shows more personality in each appearance than someone like the insipid Birkin bag-lady dressed head to toe in labels at HDIL couture week, shows in all her combined photo-op extravaganzas. I don’t know why we think she’s trying too hard- maybe she just dresses that way. Agreed it isn’t head to toe Prada, but to me, THAT is trying too hard and shows a real lack of creativity.
