In Akaaro

Wearing an Akaaro sari and jacket with traditional gold jewelry and classic pumps, Kiran attended the Ambani-Merchant engagement party in Mumbai last evening. This look may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I for sure liked it; Kiran looked good.

  1. P&P how can you call this looking good! The saree drape looks like Kreacher’s tea cosy from Harry Potter – this does not even qualify as a drape 🙁

  2. The saree on its own is very catchy and elegant but it’s messed up with the overall styling, an ugly jacket, hippie hair, ugly bag. Idk some people are anti dressing normally.

  3. Too much going on. The hair, glasses, necklace, big earrings, cuncky bangles, jacket on top of a loud colored saree. And a bag is added to it. Holding a phone tooo. God, I get exhausted typing it. The saree is beautiful. She is loyal to her personal taste. Though this is too messy and crowded.

  4. I think this is an interesting look, since Kiran likes to do her own thing. The sari needs the wearer to add a personal touch , whether whimsical or sharp. If sarees are always styled formally, wearing them will be too burdensome.

  5. This looks all sorts of bad. Like random bling pickings at the thrift store and then some more. Didnt like it one bit. Not cute, not klitchy, not artsy or bohemian. Just plain nonsense

  6. I kind of like it and feel this look has immense potential.
It’s just a lot of competing elements as is.
The jacket needs to go – or that traditional jewelry needs to go.
Or the drape needs to be sleeker and neater .

  7. When I first saw this I hated it, but now after seeing Gauri, the desi Kardashians and more such atrocities, it actually looks “nice” to me. That’s not to say it’s a good look, it’s actually not, but the bar is that low.

  8. The saree itself is great, but I think the overall styling is not letting it come through properly. I think a different jacket would have been good (the shine on shine is jarring here). Same with the jewelry – I think it would have been fine on its own with the saree, but in combination with the jacket, it’s jarring.

That said, she still manages to look good and I always appreciate that she goes for traditional weaves but puts it all together differently.
