Fab Or Drab?

Comment image 81

On anyone else that pencil skirt with the gathered/extra fabric in front would have been ridiculous and ridiculously unflattering, not so on Kiran. It totally fits her off kilter and rather funky style aesthetic, and she wears it with élan. Love.

And that kimono top is hot. As are those Loubs. Luurve. It’s an absolute ‘Fab‘ from me! You?

  1. You can’t be serious? That skirt is odd when looked at closely and the top just doesn’t cut it because of her hair etc. To pull that off she should’ve done something different with her hair. Except the shoes it looks way off from head to toe.

  2. erm – apart from the shoes the whole outfit is a bit of a mess, the skirt is ill fitting and the blouse looks like its at least 2 sizes too big -its refreshing not to see the usual identikit bolly style but really this is just a mess.

  3. it takes a person with an open mind to appreciate her style…love that abt u guys p&p :). not everyone has to dress like a socialite or fashionista.. her quirky style is quite fun… makes life more interesting 😉

  4. Very original..not run of the mill…thats why many people won’t like it.The skirt has an extra fold…..as design…it is fitting otherwise.Shoes are adefinite fab.But i wish hair was done differently and she needs to change her glasses too.

  5. Absolutely ridiculous looking ! she looks most uncomfortable in what she’s wearing as well, but for the shoes everything else about this outfit including the glasses are a big thumbs down.

  6. DRAB

Wearing ill fitting clothes does not create a funky style aesthetic. She looks like a sloppy school teacher – even the most basic skirt is not properly fitted and the top just looks too big for her especially the overlong sleeves.

    The shoes are nice though.

  7. I think the whole look is extremely drab – the specs make her look grannyish and the hair do dosn’t help much either, I’m not sure whats up with the top, looks like a pyjama suit top and the skirt is ill fitting.

  8. Given that this is a lady who has had some difficulties as of late, I think that she looks fab. I love the entire Khan (as in Aamir) clan 🙂 They are all so individual.

  12. I say FAB!! I loved her look too…I don’t think anyone else could’ve pulled it off..Maybe its just me, but I usually like what she wears. I’d actually wear something like this myself!
p.s. I really LOVED the sandals she was wearing when she came out to vote with Aamir. Wonder where I can find something like that :p

  13. No that kimono top doesn’t go with that skirt. I don’t think the top is supposed to be tucked in, and that skirt just looks so bizarre! What is funky about her style? Nothing. Its just odd; with that hair and her glasses she looks like a Grandma trying to dress mod.

  14. I love when people experiment with styles, as long as the clothes fit properly. I know the pencil skirt is designed with the pleats, but it really does look ill-fitting. I like what she was going for, but the clothes simply don’t fit correctly.

  15. I LOVE Kiran Rao’s style! She exudes confidence and its reflected in her individualistic clothing choices. I hope to see more posts of cool people like her besides actresses and socialites, i.e. artists, journalists, writers, etc. Thanks!

  16. I love it.. the skirt goes soo well with the kimono top. I think the outfit is awesome.. not amazing but it suits her and I dunno.. I like it. But then again for some reason I liked Preity’s look (the black outfit) so maybe I’m going through a liking odd things mood.

  17. whether I would personally wear this (or not), I am always for originality even if it borders on quirkiness.. especially in cookie cutter bollywood..

  18. No. No. No! This is BAD. Ill-fitting blouse and worse skirt.

P&P – Why do you think this is FAB? Am I missing something (worriedly)?

  19. you are kidding right?? she looks like a librarian with bad taste in clothes! it might have looked good if not for her glasses and that hairstyle…

  20. I am on the fence about this. I like the combination definitely…but for some reason it feels she is drowning in the clothes…I think it’s a bit ill fitting. I love her glasses! They are so cute!

  21. i love it. i don’t understand why everyone has to pass the majority’s opinion of ‘fab’. I’ve always loved her quirky style and her guts to pull it off every time and that too not worrying about anyone’s opinion. I love the kimono and the skirt. the colour is wonderful. she looks so hot.

  22. as much as i love this lady, the loose kimono top and pencil skirt which really isn’t a pencil skirt totally looks drab for me.

    love the shoes though.

  23. some people just like being fun and easy, i like the attitude and the fact that she chose to be fun and interesting, i love the skirt, its structure and who would have thought of a kimono with that, i mean does she even look like she cares if you dont like it, thanks for following the cardinal rule of style Kiran:) we can have more of you instead of those booby flashing Bebe wearers with that huge Louis Vuitton duffel:)
