If you are in Mumbai, you very well know that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are in town. The royal couple touched down in the city on Sunday and had quite a busy day one.

Catherine arrived in a Alexander McQueen dress but the more interesting part of day one came right after when she was seen in a printed Anita Dongre dress. She definitely got brownie points from us right away!

The evening charity gala saw her do a Jenny Packham gown, one that she wore with matching blue drop earrings and clutch.

With her clothes, she covered quite a few of aspects of designs that are quite mainstream in Indian fashion. The paisley print, the beaded gown.

Think she had a great day one?

  1. Thanks P&P I was looking forward to Catherine’s pictures at the gala and other events. I really like the Anita Dongre dress, and I think that was her best look out of the three. My least favorite is the Jenny Packham gown!!

Totally agree. Although I only like the Anita Dongre look here out of the 3, however, she is one style icon. She rocks those coat looks with pillbox hats like nobody else. Even Lady Diana was such a fashionista.

  3. She’s beautiful and such a pretty princess. Looks nice in all three. I preferred the gown without the wrapZ she took it off later I think because I saw some photos on net with srk and aish. Anita Dongre is lucky

    • +100. Only the Anita Dongre looks casual & classy. The other too are so dated particularly the Jenny Packham one with her posture – slouch ages her.

  4. i figure her briefing for India is to keep it super conservative. She has delivered well on that count while still managing to look elegant . I don’t however like her white dress from today (not posted here yet).. looks very school girlish

  5. She looks fantastic in the Anita Dongre outfit. Easy breezy. Did anyone see the pic of her playing football? It was in Bombay Times. I think I lost my heart to her at that point <3

  6. Love love love the Anita Dongre dress and how Kate wore it – I want that look! Has the length been altered for her though? The Jenny Packham gown seems a little banal but Kate, being Kate, makes it work. I read somewhere that the beadwork on the gown was done in India?

  7. I wish she had worn a contrast pair of earrings with the Jenny Packham gown. There was a bit too much of blue with the cape, earrings and the gown.

  8. I am not a fan of the Jenny Packham but the other 2 looks are great. She has kept her own aesthetic while giving it an Indian touch. I am glad she did not try to wear a full desi outfit because those are hard to carry off for most Westerners and often end up making them look un-elegant or manly ( case in point the Williams sisters’ attempt at sarees a few years ago)

  9. She looked best in Anita Dongre. Very Fresh and Simple. It was so nice to see her wear an Indian designer. The jenny packham gown is awful and makes her look so thin, with bad posture. I understand her wanting to wear something Indian inspired but it didnt work.

  10. Kate has a good style sense and it is also easy to be one when you have many stylists and an endless budget. The thing i like about her the most is her ability to play different sports while rocking heels and the whole world watching her every move. I don’t think i am as brave as her. So kudos to her on that

  11. Other than the Anita Dongre dress and the McQween, the rest of her outfits have been a snoozefest. She’s very unadventurous and dresses far older than her age in formal wear. Her sporty/casual looks (point in case, the AD dress) are far better.

  12. She looks washed out in Jenny Packham dress also the earrings look matchy matchy. Among the royals Queen Maxima of Netherlands is my favorite. Love the Anita Dongre easy breezy look.

  13. She’s stepped out of her comfort zone and it tells. The style we’ve grown to love has her in waist cinching classic silhouettes that showcase her legs and waist. These outfits are boring, aging and nothing to write home about.
