Sari Style

Comment image 10

Wearing a leheriya sari from The Palace Atelier (an initiative of Princess Gauravi Kumari and Claire Deroo) paired with jewelry from Vihira Jewels. I feel like a star of her stature shouldn’t be recreating Maharani Gayatri Devi looks but instead creating her own signature style. Just me feeling this way?

P.S. The look was styled by Rhea.

  1. I don’t care if her stylist wanted to recreate maharani Gayatri Devi look or Diya Kumari looks …..any day i will take this over Manish Malhotra or done to death Sabyasachi …. she looks beautiful and refreshing

  2. SHould have worn any normal blouse instead of wearing this and then try to cover up by wrapping the pallu around which is looking weird.
Also the neck piece is bit too much for that simple flowing saree.
All in all not a well put together look.

  3. That’s the odd thing about superstars. Their star power allows them to override the missteps in the styling — pearls would’ve looked so much better with this light chiffon than diamonds. The saree itself I thought was nothing great (though I love leheriya and quite see a flood of lookalikes in the upcoming festive season) and I wondered why bother with the spaghetti strap blouse if you’re going to cover it up.
So that doesn’t take away from the fact that she made an impactful picture— largely coz she does a simple chiffon so rarely.

  4. Why do you call her Princess Gauravi – is Princess her given name? I’m curious because titles like this were abolished when we became a republic

The sari itself reminds me of a cassatta icecream which was all the go-to-dessert in wedding receptions decades ago

  5. I don’t care much for the saree, to me it looks cheap. Does not speak to the sarees of the royal family ladies. It is clear this is not her comfort zone…
