Of Outings

Kani attended an awards event wearing a a red and blue combo Pavadai Thavani. While I liked the individuality shown with this outfit, the cotton set felt a bit too casual for the event. Perhaps a more formal one would’ve been appropro.

  1. Absolutely love how she wore what hundreds and thousands of women wear everyday to a red carpet event. And didn’t change it to glamourous standards but stuck to dearest, loveliest cotton. Also, why is cotton ‘too casual’ for the event? Cotton is beautiful everywhere. Period.

    • Those thousands of women who wear this everyday, would not wear this if they were to attend a red carpet event.

She does dress ultra glam for Cannes and other things. This does look striking but looks like she was going to the corner market, not to a red carpet. She is obviously choosing this outfit and making a statement, and power to her. But to the other eye, it does look a bit ‘sloppy’ as someone else put it.

  2. I don’t mind the cotton at all. But she should’ve draped it neatly and worn better jewelry. That white watch is a total eyesore too. Simple doesn’t have to be sloppy.

  3. This outfit is reusable and so many options for mix and match compared to the one and done western gowns/ heavy lehengas. Kudos to her for wearing something that millions of women regularly wear.

  4. Want to love it but the fit of the blouse is off , thavani pleats are messy , skirt needed ironing and could’ve styled the hair . This is just too casual for a red carpet event

  5. I feel like this is actually trying to hard to appear simple. I do understand the charm of an outfit like this- in my culture, we call it voni and women after a certain age usually do not wear it. It looks plain sloppy here- the stark watch, the bare neck, the extremely casual everyday cotton, the messy pleats.
