Kajol attended Saptami (7th day) celebrations on Saturday in Mumbai wearing a checkered Anavila sari and kundan earrings. With everyone opting for lehengas or shararas these days, I always love a sari sighting and this one was no different.

Catch Tanuja inside wear a white one featuring blue embroidery. Pardon the awkward pics but they were the only ones that showcased the sari. Also, some one tell me kind it is. Muchos gracias!

Tanuja’s saree is an Assam silk
Kajol has a beautiful face, and she looks good here. I hate it when she is made to wear clothes that do not compliment her figure and personality.

Tanuja’s sari looks like a sari version of north eastern mekhla chador. Everyone in my (punjabi) family has one sari with slightly different motif but exactly this style and colour.

I am thinking Paat too. Seems to be worn as sari not mekhela.
The Anavila sari is like many South handooms. Handlooms should be affordable, I am not sure what I think of this trend of “designer” sarees both with regard to price and calling it an Anavila sari.
Correct, it is. Its a particularly common kind of work and colour scheme for mekhela sadors.

Tanuja all the way. While I’m grateful for the handloom that Kajol has worn, it really is not a good choice for her. Still this over many of her other sartorial choices.
