Spotted on Jaya Bachchan, the Bottega Veneta frame tote which we love a whole lot more than bahu Aishwarya’s fiery red.

  1. Also those shades look a tad awkward on her rather-unflattering style statement! Did she just grab Ash’s bag and shades on her way out the door?!

  2. lol @ tina… jaya makes everything look bad hahah… Exactly…she looks so dead… her skin has started to sag so bad…look at her contemporaries… like Hema Malini made all other chicks in Baghban look like paani-kum-chaai hahah… i think she should take up yoga …n do inverted asanas… for preventing her skin from touching the ground now!

  3. the bag looks too matchy with her pink outfit. one can’t blame anyone for ageing but what makes her look worse is her constant frowning and grumpy attitude. if she lightened up and looked happy, that would bring a glow to the face however old one is.

  4. i like her suit. it is age appropriate, and not too chataak. it is annoying when older women dress all flashy in an attempt to appear younger.

re the frown. maybe she doesn’t even know that she’s doing it. she can’t really see her face all the time, and usually when you look into the mirror, you’ve got your “mirror face” going on, so you really do know what you look like when you are off guard. that said, the frown is also probably a reflection of her attitude. she seems to have a lot of bitterness in her. maybe she has been through a lot in life. we certainly know of some of the things. can only imagine what we don’t know.

all in all, i like the bag and teh suit. feel bad for jaya bachchan because she doesn’t seem to be happy. oh well.

  5. Not one to comment usually, but couldn’t skip on this one. Forget the bag, but what’s peeking under the khameez, don’t tell me that it’s her pink petticoat or whatever you call it? C’mon Jaya B can do better than that.

  6. Oh my goodness!!! First of all why all the horrible comments? How do any of you know whether she has gone through troubles in her life, or whether she is often left out, or whether she is happy or unhappy? Most likely this is just her natural face (like someone said above… like Ellen, or Helen Mirren). If you look at Jaya’s face, her mouth is NOT turned down into a frown, she’s not forcing her mouth into a frown, her mouth is just closed. It is the lines from her mouth, which I presume have come with age, that is making her look like that. N maybe she just doesn’t like cameras/paparazzi? Not everyone is camera ready all the time. Also if you look at Amitabh’s face when he’s not ready for the camera’s, he often looks like a grumpy old man as well, and we know that he is not!

  7. Sharin, no one is saying that she is unhappy, we were just suggesting that that’s how she looks from her expression. And, you are absolutely right when you say that she is not frowning, she just has her mouth closed and that’s the natural way it looks. But it’s a fact that your face eventually develops creases depending on which face muscles you use the most. hence the existence of smile lines and frown lines. they come from smiling and frowning a lot, respectively. otherwise they wouldn’t be given those names.

also, there are publicly known incidences that have occurred in her life to make her frown (to say the least). take her husband’s health, or her family’s bad period during the 90s, or way back when the media went gaga over the affair with rekha rumour (don’t know if it’s true, but even if it wasn’t, she must’ve gone through a lot). so yeah.

  8. I luv the lady, so back off gals/guyz – she is a classy lady who chose to be very dignified during all her troubles. i love her for that – it is not easy being married to a top celebrity who is always in the news!! esp for the wrong reasons – say rekha etc

  9. Michelle, Sharin, I dont think anyone is ridiculing her at all – we all admire her strength etc.. but she does *look* like life’s got her down, and in most pics, aishwarya’s posing between her hubby and father in law and jaya is off to the side, noone’s holding her hand, or has an arm around her.. I know that this could be because the 3 of them are still in the industry, while she’s not, but all the same, I do feel she looks a bit left out.. Who knows what the truth is.. but just going by impressions, that’s how it looks.

  10. You know, whatever her personal life may be like, that is no reason to dress that way. Look at the other women of her generation and how they dress. Its not about how much troubles you had in life – and if you had too many or not, why let it show?? Dressing like a frump from head to toe is no answer. Look at Kirron Kher, she looks gorgeous effortlessly. Haven’t seen Jaya look anything similar like ever. Whats wrong with trying to look gracious if not glamorous??

  11. Why does she have to dress to please anyone but herself? As long as she is comfortable in what she is wearing then more power to her. Jaya has never been a fashion plate even when she was younger.

BTW, why bring her personal life into a discussion on fashion. Who says that a serious face means you are unhappy? Comedians who are always smiling and laughing are some of the most depressed folks.

Jaya is a classy lady who marches to the beat of her own drum. Now that is self confidence and strength of character.

Nice understated bag by the way.

  12. actually, i think if the lighting were better, then her outfit wouldn’t look so “frumpy.” also, she doesn’t really seem to be at an event or anything that requires posing or super dressing. it seems to be a very on the run type of picture.

i have seen that she does dress up (if not well) for events, so it’s not like she has no sense of appropriateness at all.

  13. PeachBelini: family’s bad period during the 90s and the Rekha affair…that was over 10 years ago! lol! Anything we say about her personal life will be based on speculation…unless of course Aish didi calls me personally to fill me in on the sasoo ji gossip, in which case I’ll be sure to let you know! 😉

She looks fine. Although her outfits are a bit bland at times, they’re definately age appropriate and as mentioned by someone else, she’s not in the industry anymore. Plus any “auntie” who carries a Bottega gets a thumbs up from me!

Also: I think the pink “petticoat” is the lining of her suit.
