  1. She looks ok, I guess. It’s something my Mum would wear and I wouldn’t bat an eyelid. I don’t know what’s sooo right about this. :S

    • I agree, featuring this outfit in a style blog is something I would never do (but obviously, this blog belongs to PnP and not me, so it’s their call) But actually making a FUSS over this? I don’t get it… It’s the kind of saree that’s ultra, ultra common on any adult Indian woman at a formal do

P.S – PnP no offense, I love this blog, I just dot get your fascination for normal silk saris 🙂

      • my mom must have at least a hundred silk saris but i get it why we are praising jaya. it’s the first time she’s worn something decent in years (remember the cannes film festival disaster) and celebrities tend to wear those blingy tacky ‘cocktail’ saris at events and even at private parties so it’s a pleasant shock and surprise to see them wearing this even if it’s commonplace to many of us.

      • The point is that these “normal silk saris” are rare amongst the Indian celebrity/Bollywood crowd. Sadly, most celebrities tend to prefer synthetic saris, which is a shame when you see the craftsmanship and skill needed to create silk saris.

I, personally, love it when P & P showcase these works of art!

        • Agree with Zara, traditional classic silk or even cotton sarees are so rare among the bollywood set. I can only remember a handful such as Sridevi, Rekha or Kiron Kher who patronize them.
It is a shame, as there is such an amazing range of sarees such as banarasi, kanchi, mangalagiri, maheshwari, kanta, paithani, gadwal, dharamavaram, tangail … ( the list just goes on) to choose from
esp since these stars can be such great ambassadors to propagate these traditional crafts.

I too love these rare sightings of these sarees

      • I totally understand the fascination with these sarees…. I LOVE them…. This is my journey of falling in love with traditional sarees as a person of Indian origin who has been raised overseas… At the stage when i started wearing saris, i mostly wore blingy sarees and loved them (and still love some blingy sarees and I sometimes think it is a must for Indian wedding celebration). But as someone who is close to mid 20’s, I am totally falling in love with traditional silk sarees, there is nothing more graceful/elegant than wearing a traditional saree well…

  2. P&P,

There were more notable firsts (Celina Jaitley) and some very strikingly dressed folks (Farhan Akhtar, KJO, etc) at this award show..can we showcase them too?

Also, the STAR screen awards were held today (Jan 9th), and there was a good showing of celebs in this one too. So lemme be the first to warn you there is a truckload of eye candy coming up real fast!!
