Sari Style

While daughter-in-law went with Sabyasachi, Jaya seems to have stuck to her favorites Abu-Sandeep, wearing a black sari with sequin line details and a stole matching the sari. If her blouse wasn’t so ornate, I wouldn’t mind the sari but because the blouse is, it draws way too much attention to her upper half, which in this case, ain’t a good thing.

Mr. Bachchan, also did a match route like his son, but instead matching his tie to his shoes, went for a two-toned velvet jacket.

    • yeah, it’s true she is grinning (for a change) and that is the only redeeming grace. the sari is way too ordinary and the blouse, too garish.

  1. While it’s wonderful to see Jaya so happy in that first picture this one is a miss. Everything – the sari the blouse – all of it. It’s like the blouse is from a different sari and was accidently mismatched with this.

    • 🙂 thats true , look Vidya, even Jaya Bachchan is dressing younger than you!.

I dont like the blouse too, with this saree, simpler blouse would have made the saree look better. She looks nice, i wish she did something with the hair though, color it better, she is a movie star first crying out loud!

  3. Amitabh’s velvet fetish is seriously disturbing. Jaya needs to get her hair coloured by a professional and brush it properly before she goes out. Also, even if she wants to stick only to traditional Indian clothes there are plenty of elegant, subtle yet glamorous options out there. She also needs better and less harsh makeup, given that her skin is aging

Like someone else said, she is a movie star for crying out aloud!!! Just because she is above than the median Bollywood actress age doesnt mean she shouldnt look good. Look at Meryl Streep, or even Hema Malini for god’s sake!!

  4. i don’t think she should have worn a transparent sari. vidya balan and jaya bachchan should swap clothes! i live in london and i could have taken jaya bra shopping before the event. the one that she’s got isn’t doing her any favours. amitabh, though, is looking as dapper as ever.

  5. She looks a little scary in the 1st pic…though it’s great to see her smile!! so I’ll ignore it. I must say that’s one loud blouse. She looks nice in the 2nd pic.

  6. i see aunty finally let her hair go. i appreciate that. its nice to see people not fighting age as though its a disease. that said, her saree is the limit. seriously not something i’d like on an older woman.

  7. Just because her face is split in a rare grin, i’ll forgive her for not combing her hair.
Love the saree and blouse, though not on her.

  8. Does HHC never cover the Southies? Raavan also stars Vikram in case people have forgotten – and surely his all black look in London deserves a mention! And oh yes the director who happens to be a Mr Ratnam was also there sporting a sherwani!

And that I hope doesn’t get the comment stuck in moderation…..
