In Twos

Promotions for her movie Monday saw Ms. Kapoor in a gold pavadai daavani (half-sari) custom made by Manish Malhotra paired with temple-style jewellery. Sunday promotions saw her in a floral sari also from MM which she wore with sets of bangles on each hand. See inside.

All the rich weaves of the south and so far we’re seeing her in some bland outfits. Sure the half-sari was a good attempt but am not blown away. Are you?

  1. though she is really sweet girl but i am tired of her just 2 type of looks
one is with this gajra and typical indian/or south indian looks in lehnaga, saree and other completely opposite wanna be jessica rabbit look.
I want to see smthing else on her now..

    • 100 agree. Also I think she would look better styled less. Not sure how to explain it but lesser make
Up, less blow drying the hair would be a good start.

  2. I do like that she has own personal preference and style. She looks to love glitter and glam, heavy jewelry and heavily adorned blouses etc. Though many of her looks are not my cup of tea, I like that she doesn’t shy away from her personal style. Most new age actresses, I could not see their personal style.
In this look, she absolutely got the southern mainstream lux jewelry right! Most bolly ladies picks feels like mockery.

How did this comment get approved? I’m confused because I thought you were totally against slut shaming people. But this comment was literally talking about someone’s character.
I understand you must be swamped with your own professional life and the humongous work with the blog, so maybe it just got missed. But it was really uncomfortable to read someone getting torn down like that.
No need to publish this, just thought you might want to double-check if it fits with HHC values.

  3. I liked the floral saree.
The thaavani looks terrible on her. The drape and the overly uplifted choli with awful embroidery looks tacky. Can’t believe MM would butcher a daavani that’s supposed to be such a sweet outfit

  4. I think the styling team is trying hard to recreate Sridevi’s iconic chiffon sari looks. Umm, clearly not to great effect. Jahnvi as per usual brings no personality to the outfits, just the same old of bland looks

  5. The rich weaves of the south in the hands of MM always ends up looking so blah or too contrived. She would’ve done better to pick up a half saree set from a traditional silk store. Where are the bright colours, textures and the beautiful motifs?

Her saree look fares better, but dislike the chamkeeli border and blouse.

  6. She has much nicer and richer weaves in her personal collection that she beings out on her Tirupati visits. Perplexed by these bland MM choices now

  7. Manish Malhotra should stop dressing actresses in these dull colors and cheap looking fabric. It does a huge dis-service to actors… like he did with Ash in Cannes.

  8. Simple blouse matching with the border of half saree would look better than this ornate blouse.
Also ruby jewelry with a different hair style than this same tight bun with flowers .
