Of Galas

Janhvi attended the amfAR Gala at Cannes 2025 wearing a vintage YSL velvet jacket with custom skirt from Anamika Khanna paired with Jimmy Choo pumps and a statement wide brim fascinator. Rhea did what Rhea does best, mixing vintage with a touch of Indian and Janhvi did look great. But given the Spring season and the French Riveira locale, the look as a whole just felt way too heavy to me.

    • I feel exactly the same for Rhea, self proclaimed stylist. If only money could buy the skill set, all the talent had been limited with certain people.

  1. Rhea puts her brigade of nepo clients like Jahnvi, Alia and what not in the most heavily curated of looks but they just don’t have the oomph or effortless IT factor to pull it off. They have the best of resources, access to brands but what they can’t do is pull off the looks with their own personalities and panache..just ends up looking like an over-curated style piece with good photoshoots. Evokes nothing.

  2. Why would a Women of her age wear what she has on her head?

I associate the fascinator with the Ascots or derby, not a Gala at Cannes film festival

  3. Years since liberalisation and massive exposure to the West and we still don’t get how to style Western outfits.

Of course that is because styling is not a profession and seems like ghar ka maamla.

  4. this is great for an editorial. and it’s a good look, no denying it (except the mismatch in the color between jacket and skirt, which is a pet peeve), but i wonder who it’s playing to — the crowd back home (ummm, her audience doesn’t know audrey hepburn) or the immediate surrounds and world media in attendance (why would they want a desi dressed up like a white woman?).

  5. Other days, janvi doesnt go heavy on eyes.
When she didnt need heavy eye kohl, she has done it for this.
A simple cat eye liner would have done wonders.

  6. Jahnave slays in local events but blends in – in cannes.. Not acceptable.. She / Rhea could have done much better in bringing across something more authentic- namely Boobage, oomph + indian touch. This looks is just meh..

  7. Rhea did well. Janhvi looked gorgeous. When would she get to do high fashion if not at Cannes? I don’t see any issue with color or style.

  8. Janhvi got the best coverage internationally thanks to this outfit. I get it that Sonam, Rhea, Kapoors aren’t popular with people who comment here but yeah, people outside are eating Janhvi’s fashion choices up. And I am certain landing her a global ambassador position with a big brand is the goal, that doesn’t happen if you show up looking pretty but don’t make a statement. Also, Janhvi had a choice to wear something else by her own admission for Vogue. She ultimately chose this and she does her eye makeup herself for whatever reason. Rhea doesn’t force her choice. And also Rhea does do incredibly well styled outings for her roster of friends/family/clients. I don’t know why the sudden she doesn’t deserve being a stylist is being said when that is objectively not true.

  9. I think her looks have been great at Cannes , elegant , classy & mature unlike her appearances back home with plenty of cleavage ,midriff baring clothes . This is refreshing & out of her comfort zone . Kudos to Rhea for showing that Indians actresses can look sexy without showing so much skin .
