Wearing a Manish Malhotra designed Kandyan sari, Jacqueline too sat on the judges panel at Miss India pageant. Wearing her half up, she finished out the look with diamong earrings, a cocktail ring and berry lips. You like?

  1. gorgeous actress and so much fun to see her on the red carpet because she has fun with her fashion… but this outfit is one unexpected tackastic fare she could have skipped … well until next time, when she does it fabulously better!

  2. Neck up I have no complaints [okay well a little – her makeup is slightly oily]. The problem is the outfit. An outfit that can make that hot body look wide is a fail in all departments.

  3. This is the tackiest thing I’ve seen Jackie wear in recent times. I normally like her carefree style but this outfit is a total downer.

  4. What is that? A sari? Sharara pants and a top. What us that strange frill on the hip? She is looking so broad! Looks like a filmi costume with that hairstyle making it worse

  5. Kandyan sari is also known as ‘Osariya’ ,this is the sri lankan traditonal attire. Jacqueline wears it well. she looks good from head to toe.

  6. I can’t believe the cultural insensitivity in all these comments – calling it weird and a cross between a mini skirt and a flap, filmy, strange and what not. It’s very disappointing

The blog post clearly stated it’s a Kandyan sari.
Part of Jacqueline’s culture so kudos to her for celebrating it rather than just sticking to the indian convention.

  7. Gosh! How ignorant are the readers of this blog that they don’t know what a Kandyan saree is. Agreed this is not the best example of one but the meanness of the comments is only made worse by the sheer ignorance.

  8. and Manish Malhotra Designs are becoming dated and tacky lately….No disrespect to the cultural aspects of the kandyan but Im pretty sure the actual kandyan saree looks better

  9. How ignorant and pathetic some of you to call it as tacky, weird, costumy and hideous, some of you don’t know how to respect other cultures and heritages, I’m a proud Sri lankan and I’m a big fan of this blog and I read it daily.

In the description it clearly says a Kandyan sari. “Wearing a Manish Malhotra designed Kandyan sari”
Dear Admin, next tym when you post a photo of star wearing a traditional attire please bold fonts to emphasize it. I can see the negligence of some of the commentators here.
FYI There’s no big difference between the original Kandyan and this Kandyan except that original Kandyan does not drape as a flared skirt like the one that Jacqueline wears and the style of draping exposes little bit skin here.

Hats off to Jacqueline for wearing our traditional attire for Miss India pageant. You go girl…

  10. This is NOT a traditional Sri Lankan sari (a Kandyan sari) but is based on one. The ‘frill’ at the waist does not go all the way round at the same length like it does here – google pictures of a Kandyan sari and you’ll see. Even I agree that the ‘frill’ here actually makes the sari look ugly: Mr. Malhotra has kind of made a mess of it. 🙁
The Kandyan sari is what most brides wear in Sri Lanka and those look WAY better than this sari.

Some people here say that the ‘frill’ makes her look ‘broad’; the ‘frill’ is meant to do that, kinda! It accentuates your hips and makes your waist look smaller – which is the ideal body shape (hourglass) in Sri Lanka.

However, as usual, this Sri Lankan beauty looks amazing. 🙂
