In Rohit Bal

Malaika attended her stylist, Maneka Harisinghani’s wedding on Sunday afternoon and later headed onto Sonam’s birthday lunch. She was seen wearing the floral print Rohit Bal sari that we also saw on Deepika a few months ago. While Deepika wore hers with the halter blouse, Malaika changed it up by wearing a scoop neck one and pairing the attire with a maang tikka and choker.

I wish she’d gone either or on the tikka/necklace. Having said that though, who do you like more in the sari?

On an aside, the sudden sighting of a Bal design also makes me wonder if the designer is on damage control after his recent outburst.

  1. More like a Maang Fan not a Maang Tikka. Any bigger and it would have looked like those decorated metal plates on temple elephants. Also, whats with the weird faces? Demure much?

  2. Malaika wins the round for me. Deepika has a harshness to her styling that always makes the look more severe than it actually is. Malaika’s makes it look more approachable and feminine. Aside from that, I think Rohit Bal is really imaginative and his work is beautiful, though this controversy’s not doing his image any favors. He should lend some of his clothes to Sobhita Dhulipala, she has the personality to carry them off really well.

  3. How would a double sighting of the same piece be damage control? What if it was bought by both and worn.. also, I like the Malaika version here.. this didn’t need jewels.. maybe some pearl/diamonds.. if at all.. even then with how Malaika has accessorised it, still looks beautiful.
its a nice saree.. with a done to death floral on plain background print… have seen so many versions of this on most yesteryear actresses.. much elegance then.

  4. I like Deepika’s for the simple styling and elegant look. There is certain innocence and sweetness to her look, her only jewelry is jhumkas, the way pallu is draped is making a whole lot of difference.

  5. I think the saree with huge flowers requires a much taller person( at least in photos) to carry out the whole frame of the saree. Maybe thats why the saree looks complete on deepika .

But both look beautiful neck up (which they naturally are).

  6. Both ladies look lovely. I prefer Mailaika blouse. Malaika’s choice of wearing a maang tika is a bit much; maybe she was trying not to look too much like Deepika!
