In Nikhil Thampi

Instead of the traditional gown for the red carpet, Huma dared to be different wearing a custom sparkly blush pink Nikhil Thampi suit. I do applaud her for going the suit route, but did I like the suit. Not one bit. Between the length of the pants and the awkward color contrast of the pink against the grey mirror paillette, the suit just came of looking odd.

I am not sure if the idea was to make her look like she should float on the red carpet, because that was the effect thanks to all the reflecting paillettes on the pants.

  1. Way to ruin a pantsuit! Ugh. The idea of an Indian woman owning a pantsuit on a red carpet is so awesome and yet here we are. The styling, the design, the fit- it’s all so weird. Why was that necklace needed? Why was what strange silver pattern needed? Why was this piece taken out of a trunk, let alone paraded on the red carpet?

  2. It’s a shame, because if this were a straight strapless gown in the same design it would have had a different impact. She wears it well but just not red carpet worthy.

  3. OMG…looks like she’s slowly transmuting into aluminium foil. Was that the intention of the designer? This will make it to one of the worst looks on Cannes Red carpet. Kudos to the designer.

  4. Rofl, lol.. this is what happens when celebrities are slaves to the designers and have no mind or choice of their own. Huma is so beautiful and has a personality but she chose this to shine, big time turn down

  5. Honestly at first glance I did not like this look at all !!
But the more I see the more I like it … I think she really stood out. When everyone else was wearing gown she choose smth different and she nailed it !
I think the proportions are fine .. the color suited her and in contrast with the red carpet

  6. OMG..!! This is going to be one of the worst outfit on the red carpet..!
It doesn’t suit her at all. This is really really bad..! Not at all appropriate for the event.
I don’t understand, if we normal people can understand this than, why can’t the designer and the stylist. I think she will regret wearing This.

  9. This type of structured suit with a belt to emphasize the midriff just doesn’t do it for her. She should go for flowy a-line designs which will showcase her beautiful face.
