Sari Style

For the sangeet, it was a Shyamal and Bhumika sari and for the mehendi, a Neeta Lulla one for the mother of the bride. If we had to pick a favorite, we’d go with the sangeet look.

  1. the Mehendi sari by Lulla is such an eyesore. If a sari can make the graceful Hema Malini look bad, that speaks to the designer’s sensibilities. yet another example of Lulla’s WEIRD “fashion.” she is a designer? really?

  2. How beautiful is this woman! Can’t say I care that much for either Neeta Lulla or her daughter’s “creations” (especially not any of the ones seen at Esha Deol’s wedding celebrations). But coming back to – how beautiful and elegant and graceful Hema Malini looks! There’s a radiance in her face that transcends even this lackluster outfit.

  3. If a designer can make Hema Malini look lacklustre, you had to really hand it to them. The color palette is so wrong for all the clothes that the Lullas have designed for this wedding.

  4. the sari is pathetic……… Hema looks ravishing in normal clothes also but for such a special day she looks worse than normal !

The sangeet was average and better than the mehendi !! Neeta Lulla sucks…. remember her stint wit Aishwarya !!!

  5. is it just me or does anyone else also feels that from Hema Malini , one could expect some lovely Kanjivarams / Gadwals or the other gorgeous sarees from South India ….

coming to colour, I think she has purposefully kept the colour palatte dull as maybe she dint want to outshine Esha …. I mean with a mom as gorgeous as Hema Malini , everyone else pales in comarision

    • She is wearing a Kanjivaram for the wedding, and she’s making everyone else wear one too.
Expecting her to wear kanjivaram’s in all the functions is just too much expectation.

      • thanks for the info..dint have “inside” nfo of their planned wedding outfits life you 😉
btw i dint mean just kanjivarams, i was referring to a choice of lot of other traditional weaves she could have gone for …instead of these nothing to write abt dime-a-dozen sarees..

looking forward to seeing hema and “everyone” else in their kanjivarams 🙂

  6. From what I have noticed from the past Neeta Lulla clothes are occasionally nice… Personally I am not a wee bit fan of her design.. Her design more like some low grade saree shop..

I really think Hema is keeping it sober, preferring not to outshine
Esha on her special occasion, I highly appreciate..
As I have seen many mothers not realizing and going overboard
    like my own MIL

  7. Wish she wore some bright Kanjeevaram saree. The sarees are so pale in colour for her on such a festive day. But still, she manages to look good.

  8. In the one from Mehandi , she’s so reminiscent of ‘Shakuntala’ character we’ve seen in movies and books…remember..orange sarees and flowers for jewellery

  9. i wish she had worn some beautiful handlooms for her daughters wedding functions – these type of sarees are two – a -penny these days and they do nothing for her. If she had to go designer she should have picked a sabyasachi silk or a Ritu kumar and that goes for the bride too. All those Neetu lulla lehngas are seriously tacky looking.

  10. I’ll be the only one who favours second look;)
the sangeet saree is so bland and neutral, that she almost disappear.

And I kinda like it, the mehendi color coordination with esha outfit. sweet.

  11. Definitely have to go with the sangeet look. I feel like the ladies of the Del family got a package deal with the Lulla family for Mehendi. Not necessarily a good thing. Eh. We have known Hema to look ethereal in Kanjeevarams and other traditional garb.
