In Their ‘Seeta’ Avatar

Original ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’ star Hema Malini graced the launch of NDTV Imagine’s new serial ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’. which will have the famous dual role played by Anjori Alagh. While, Ms. Malini sported a yellow sari with a bandhini print pallu, Anjori chose a more flashy one with gold border detail and a velvet blouse.

I wish Hema’s blouse had no puff (it kinda takes away the kitschy factor) and the pallu had the leaf print continued instead of the bandhini. And as for Ms Alagh sari, its just too flashy for my taste. What about you? Dig either’s or neither’s?

P.S. You can check out more pictures from the event here.

  2. Ya the puffs are so ugly, but the sari is so pretty. Hema malini just glows…the radiant yellow really makes her looks her best. This is the kind of sari worn in rajasthan over festivals..I love it!
As for the other one…ughhh the border is so bright and gaudy can’t see anything else.

  6. the puffed sleeves idea is a good one, and i think it does add to the kitschy, but I’m not sure if it’s working on Hema. she looks lovely, anyway. and i’m really liking the velvet blouse though the saaree is pretty yuck. good idea for when i’m choosing a blouse next time 🙂

  8. hi the effect on Hema Malini’s sari is NOT bandhani… Its a tie-dye effect and is not at all similar to the art of bandhani. Since you guys are particular in spotting bags and shoes…i think you should also be accurate about traditional Indian techniques.

  9. The colour looks great on Hema but I do not like the saree.

  10. I love Hema’s sari, but the tie-dye like print makes me go, “Huh?” . It’s distracting. But I love it nonetheless.

Side Note: P&P, where is the gallery? I agree with Dia- perhaps the tab should be up top where my bleary eyesight can easily find it at 3AM? 🙂

  11. Yeah, that looks like tie dye to me too, but I don’t know what bandhani is. Anyway, the effect looks weird on the pallu, and the sari reminds me of Narad muni, Ramayan, etc. I don’t mind puffs on the sleeves, but just not this particular one, and the whole look takes me back to 90s. As for the other one, it looks like an amalgamation of Manish Malhotra (blouse) and Anamika Khanna (sari).
Nevertheless, Hema Malini is always radiant and beautiful in any sari.

  13. I think only the pallu is tie-n-dye. But the rest (on blouse, sides of the saree) is block printing.
Correct me if i am wrong.

  14. i liked anjori’s sari…it looks elegant.
as for hema, her blouse looks like its from the early 90s. i like puffs but on shorter sleeves.

  15. Hema Malini is elegant as always but the saree does not make it to her usual classy standard. And the other lady’s saree (coupled with a velvet blouse!!) just isn’t workin!!

@Ashish – you’re right, it is a tie & dye effect on Hema Malini’s saree.

  16. I think the other way round, the puffed sleeves add to the kitschy factor like someone said, I just LOVE Hema’s sari over-all, she looks awesome, Anjori’s – not so much:(

  17. Actually I don’t like Hemas much – theres nothing spectacular about it, I actually prefer the other ladys, the velvet blouse adds a nice touch.

  19. Hema’s saree is not as beautiful/sexy as her usual sarees, though it looks good on her-makes her innocent, bright and beautiful. Anjori’s saree does not have depth.
