In Anita Dongre

It came as no surprise to have spotted Gul Panag in an Anita Dongre dress at a recently held Awards show and while we think she looked perfect neck-up, we are pretty undecided on the dress itself. It’s (the dress) not something that appeals to either of us (Payal and I) but Ms. Panag almost makes it work on her. I say almost only because we’ve seen Gul give us ‘awesome’ and this isn’t it.

  1. I think she looks good. Instead of wearing an ill-fitting gown, etc, she wore a nice, well fitted dress with abstract print. Bling is in fashion for 2010. Love her shoes too. Minimal accessories made the dress do the talking.

  2. Is it just me, or is it very sad that she wore that to an awards show? I mean, not to sound catty, but I had something very similiar to this dress about five years ago that I wore for my thriteenth birthday. I would not wear something like it anymore, and espeically not for a formal occasion.

In my opinion, the dress is tacky and totally event inappropriate. Gul is a fierce and beautiful woman and I would love to see her in clothes that do justice to her impressive personality. I especially hate the black lining/ piping on the neckline and sleeves.

    But still,
Kudos to her for the updo and understated make-up which make the whole look a tad more grown-up and formal.

  3. Gul khil rahi hai, unke dress per tulips ki tarah! ;-D She’s carrying it off great and I love her makeup. Don’t care too much for the black clutch and shoes though.

  4. She definitely looks very pretty face up..
Her problem just like Ayesha Takia is her breasts. They make anything that should fit on her look off. I honestly wouldn’t know how she could fix this. Maybe a better bra.. some corsett-y stuff..

and she wears her neckline so close to her neck that it makes her neck look smaller and awkward… I think deep Us would look nice on her.

  6. WHEN has Gul lookd gud… except for her very early modelling days she’s pretty bad when it comes to dressing.
    no surprises here…
and almost always she’s in an anita dongre outfit which does her no favours …
anita dongre entered fashion earlier than most hence her success… NOT because of her talent as a designer.

  7. I had seen her photo earlier. She is looking good. The dress does grab one’s eyeballs-maybe not event appropriate> her face/hair is a bit off.. so I do not think she looks great neck up

  8. I liked her dress and she carried it off well.

Sequins are so in this season .
I have seen lot of sequin-dresses in forever21,charolette russe, macys & most have neckline high like crew neck..may be to give less body – show.

Also because of sequin work all these dresses are not-figure hugging so wearer does look little chubby.

  9. I think Gul looks super stunning in the outfit, and able to look this good, after having run 21kms for the marathon the same morning. She’s just fabulous !

  10. where o where is Lara when you need her. She could’ve totally made this dress work. On gul though, not so much. Maybe its the washed out makeup.

  11. I find it very tacky. It makes her look heavy, which I dont think she is being a marathon runner and all that. I find most of Anita Dongre’s designs weird as if she planned on doing something and then as an afterthought added an unncessary detail

  12. This looks a whole lot like an Anna Sui that was on a website sometime ago. It was called something like Rainbow fields.
Somehow reminds me of a certain Miss Bhandari and a Purple/red Anna Sui.
