What a good looking couple, love what theyโre both wearing.
Bride looks beautiful.. the heavily embroidered lehenga looks beautiful. A bit disconnected with grooms outfit, but itโs ok.
One AK outfit to redeem the 198,763 others. Beautiful. Sabyasachi, who?
Beautiful!! Love them both outfits.
Congratulations!!
Vow she is wearing Kashmiri dejhuru. Loved it
Wow beautiful both of them! I love how they kept everything to their taste and not going by what is ‘in’ and what every one ofelse is doing ( read sabya, matching outfits, overwhelming jewelry just to show off but that doesn’t compliment the lehenga etc etc)
Wow… u got nice pics. Unfortunately,
in the wedding ceremony pics her outfit blended into the background (exactly the same colour ) totally.
Is she wearing a Dejhur or Athoor? I forgot which is which. Any Kashmiri readers on the blog?
Dejhoor is the oval piece. I don’t see an Athoor (additional smaller piece that hangs below the dejhoor). Had to zoom in on the high-res version of their pic here.
I had to call my mum. So Ath is the chain, athoor is the colourful Pom-Pom. Post the wedding, the MIL slips the athoor through the chain.
Post the wedding, the MIL slips the Dejoor/Dejour* through the ath.
Now am confused. I thought the bride’s parents give the bride the dejhoor at the Devegoan ceremony but it is worn with a red thread first. The atha is the chain that the in-laws swap with after the lagaan ceremony and then also add an athoor (the additional pompom decorative piece).
Your version does sound right. There is a good chance that after the call with my mum, I jumbled half the stuff.
Are you a blog visitor or a moderator on the blog?
The co-founder of the blog. ๐ And now am wanting to get a pair for myself. ๐
Ah, you must ๐ I have to get my upper ears pierced, I wore the chain around my ears during my wedding.
I am Kashmiri Pandit n your Vesrion is correct. She is wearing athuru means, oval one with golden chain. The gold chain is given by inlaws which is called Atth n oval piece is called Dejhuru. But in daily use, we call it atthuru..
I am a KP too but I have always been woefully clueless about these things.
Buh Chus Koshur (did I get the gender wrong?)
Buh chass koshir… this for female gender. The one u mentioned is for male?
Who is Kashmiri Pandit here, Kajal or Payal? Why is Kajal wearing KP jewelry?
Kajal’s husband Gautam is part Kashmiri.
Everyone in Telugu film industry is getting married during this pandemic. Looks like marriage bug in Telugu industry. Congratulations to the couple.
This looks beyond breathtaking!!!!!
So in context to above discussion about traditional Kashmiri earrings, I have grown up in Lucknow with five-six Kashmiri pandit families in my neighbourhood. These lovely married ladies wear the earrings known as ‘atthuru’. That’s what they call it. Also, have seen one of the Granny wearing these in red thread n my Kashmiri Bio teacher in school too wearing it in red string. Whatever be the name/colour, they look gorgeous on Kashmiri women. There have been fashion version of these earrings but I love only the authentic Kashmiri ones.
