In addition to being featured in Cosmopolitan, Freida also graces the cover of Vogue India’s March 2009 issue in a Spring 2009 Louis Vuitton mini.

Love it?

  1. Love the cover. Besides the current Frieda sensation, the layout, colours and styling are all good. LOL@the side bar on recessionita. This cover will grab many attentions, should sell well.

  2. my review of the cover, the dress was busy enough and didn’t need a giant necklace to look better, I think the necklace killed the whole dress and cover, the hair and dress would looked way better without that gigantic necklace

  3. Hehe and people were complaining about Vanity Fair’s whitewashing of Freida’s complexion. This is ten times worse! And yes that necklace doesn’t do anything for her look when paired with that dress…both are competing to stand out.

  4. I first thought she was on US Vogue cover, and was wondering how they could go wrong with the look and styling. Now that its Vogue India, I understand. They still have a way. She is looking okay. Nothing great. The necklace should have been worn with a plain dress, would have looked dramatic.
They should have shot her in an edgy pant suit, would have been dramatic.

  5. Ew. Just ew. The colors, the styling, Frieda’s make-up & hair – everything is clashing with everything else and the end result is REALLY bad.
Frieda’s million-watt smile is missing, and so is her special Pinto-licious (Pintovian? Pinto-sized?) appeal. She looks so average and ..umm..DOWDY here. Sad.

And the key parts of the dress – the bustle at the base, the cutaway waist and the sleeves – all disappear on the cover.

    Bad cover. Bad Vogue.

  6. It’s a good cover for Vogue India, and Freida looks nice apart from the slightly open lips. I just dislike the fact that Vogue India have probably only given her a cover due to her international exposure, otherwise they would have ignored her like with so many other Indian models. Also, i wish people would stop going on about her style and being a fashionista when she has a stylist! She looks pretty on the red carpet with her borrowed freebies, but what about her daily style? Even before SM? If Vogue India want to announce a style sensation then they should be looking at Sonam Kapoor, Lakshmi Menon, Nina Manuel, Kangana etc actresses and models who do style themselves for events!

  7. i actually am happy to see a new face and a new look on Vogue India.. I dont find her very alluring (more cute than sizzling) but I think men find her hot..:-)

  8. I actually like the strong contrasts; I’ve gotten so sick of the wishy washy white on whites. This doesn’t look like her best angle.. Maybe I just don’t see the person staring back whose images have been bombarded everywhere.. I think I prefer her with a smile..

  9. Freida’s charm is in her smile and her personality. I am not particularly fond of her pictures off photoshoots. Some are good some are not. She is what I call a natural beauty…the more make-up, get-up, lighting you put the worse she looks. She is not ordinary…she is one of those lucky ones who look HOT after waking up! But she def looks good on screen.

Here all that jazz is just not working for her.

  10. This is not a very good cover. She looks best when she smiles… she is no exceptional beauty if not for her smile…her face comes alive with her smile. she is no cover girl material ..
Nam, she has a wooden Allen Movie in her kitty.. perhaps it won’t be a 15 min fame after all.. we will have to watch out..
Me, I agree about Anil… he just seem so in the face with his enthusiasm. Earlier I thought he was being genuinely happy and his behaviour was an honest expression. …although with Freida, i feel it was a studio strategy… luck really is on her side. I hope she proves worthy of it…

  11. I love the necklace. Very fierce look. She looks brilliant I think.
All these years the actresses who made it really big in Hindi films were people who tried really hard not to look Indian at all (Ash, her clones, and all the other contact lens wearing girls), so it’s awesome that someone so Indian looking makes it really big. Plus I love how she never really tries too hard to look good.

  12. Don’t particularly have a problem with the tanked up metallic overtones of the cover….as much as i love freida, as much as i want to really like this cover, i cannot…the eyes seem to have sunken…and with such a strong lip and metal tones (vis-a-vis garment and accessories), the hair should have been slightly more severe…

  13. what is it with vogue India and good looking actress looking bad in their covers?? e.g. asin, freida…they should stop photoshopping and get better stylists. freida doesn’t look like her usual stunning self. hate the hair its so flat..needs some volume and the ugly necklace needs to go!

  14. Everything was over done…the dress, necklace, makeup, hair…guess they forgot to take one piece off before hitting the camera…
And the mouth open sexiness is real tricky…this is a bad bad angle for her lips & teeth. To me instead of looking sexy which I guess was the attempt she looks bored / sad

  15. *nams*- I dont think her fame is 15 sec. Because I heard she’s just been cast in Woody Allen’s next movie. Heard she will be working alongside Naomi Watts, Josh Brolin and Anthony Hopkins.
On another note, it doesn’t look like her on the cover..something’s not in place.

  16. The cover-concept is okay but somehow does’nt suit Freida…the whole mysterious sexy beauty thing is not working. She always give off a girl-next-door vibe…maybe they could have gone for a lighter and fresher look(with her smiling).

  17. uhhhh…where is Frieda
All I see is an extremely whitewashed indian girl with makeup that makes her look tired
    so not Frieda’s style
and I have to agree…I don’t quite understand whay she is famous (ther than the fact that she is good looking, which I guess is all you need)

  18. @ me – I agree totally… the necklace has just killed this look… It’s almost as if it’s been put on because ‘how can Vogue have just a dress on the model’…
And Freida cannot carry off the strong makeup… she has lookd lovely so far in the places where her make-up has veered towards the more natural than pronounced…. Ah well, live and learn

  19. i dont know why but she doesnt pull it off this time. not at all.

perhaps its tha makeup like some of the ppl said above.. some contouring on the cheeks and smoky eyes would have made it work.

she has a great sense of style and always manages to look good on red carpets and what not..
but her face is so ordinary and she always looks like the girl next door to me.

but i still like her =) lol

  20. I have not been able to agree that she has a great sense of style. I don’t think all garments she wore and styled were that great. I am also not over the fact that she chose the lehenga type sari, which was a WTHeyyy for me when she was in India. Don’t shoot me for the last reason, personal opinion. I randomly came across one of her recent interviews and her fashion icons are Angelina Jolie and Kate Beckinsale.
She might have a great style sense in future but not just yet.

  21. Nepali: give the girl some time (and some more time with her stylist!) and I think she’ll learn. I’m on board about Jolie because she’s such a strong persona it doesn’t really matter what she wears, but Beckinsale…no. Way too WAG for my taste.

I know Vogue India usually does a crap job with its covers, but honestly- this looks like a Grazia cover, not a Vogue one. While I’m glad they chose to feature hert (come on, having your first movie win an Oscar is bound to attract some attention), they could have done much better with the photography. And Freida’s best feature- her smile- doesn’t come out to play, while they smother her skin under makeup. Not a good look, sorry.

    Hopefully she looks better inside.

  22. Jolie can hold her own only because of her confidence, otherwise who would look good in those black, gothic gowns that she wears quite frequently these days. I think Freida’s style is very easy on the eye, at least she doesn’t look snow-maiden, distant, cold. Having said that, I don’t like her in this cover.

  23. such a pretty dress. freeda does no justive to it… oh and i think shes ectremely avg looking and cant act. dont see what the hype about her is. she wasnt even in slumdog for more than 3 scenes and she practically does nothing inthem
