Changing It Up

One to normally don dresses, Freida changed it up by opting for a Gucci suit at the Trishna premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The masculine look made for a welcome change. I didn’t quite care for the Fendi baguette (especially with the strap out) but the butterfly brooch more than made up for it.

Loved the hint of pink on the lips.

  1. Am I the only one who thinks nothing of Freida Pinto? I think she’s average at best in every department…look, style, carriage…plain over hyped, just a lucky girl. Sorry, this suit as most of the other designer dresses does nothing for her.

      • Its so am lame to play the “she’s just lucky” card for 4 years now. Wake up people luck runs out what keeps you going is ur determination and will to keep doing better. And I’m sure she looks plain and simple like most of us, right? But are you implying that plain nd simple girls are not special? I am offended if u think so as is majority of the Indian population. I think she looks fabulous, confident and this is a great youthful colour on her. Red and raring to go! She’s an inspiration.

        • I wouldn’t waste my breath trying to defend her. She looks too Indian and for the majority of her haters that is a flaw. yikes!

Anyway, not a fan of suits and this one doesn’t impress me. I think it’s very well styled but for me the colour is too much

        • It’s not lame…Can you point out a single movie where adjectives like luminous and beautiful were not used to describe her but her acting? The critics are enraptured with her “luminosity” and not really her acting.
As for her style…its almost faultless …she either has a knack or a great stylist. Being the darling of papa Karl doesn’t hurt either.
We hate her success but secretly wish we were her (minus the accent and dating Dev Patel).

        • Couldn’t agree with you more. Just saw her in a short clip from her new movie Trishna, she is breathtaking in an earthy way. The girl has confidence and that’s what makes her beautiful. If looking Indian is ordinary to all these people I am so glad she got out of here.

    • so what if she is “plain” and “average”? why do you have to be “above average” looking to be an actress or to look good or to get attention :-/

    • I’m sure that most commenters on here would be termed average in looks. Yet, do you think even one of us would say, given her opportunities and luck, “Oooo please don’t give me these chances. I’m too average looking and I don’t deserve them; I’ll just get slagged off by the rest of my countrymen. Please give them to Aishwarya instead- she’s better looking, and thus more deserving of good luck!” ?! l
      Hmmm I thought not!

    • Really? I would any day prefer to see her on HHC than folks like Queenie, who have NO claim to fame and dress hideously. Frieda dresses well. Love, Love this look.. U r right would have preferred a different clutch, other than that, lovely

  2. irrespective of whether she is lucky or not,she does have a great dressing sense. She may have a stylist but there are so many celebrities who turn out WTHeyy even with stylists!!!

  3. I don’t understand why people here slag off someone’s fame.

Ladies, if you don’t like the fashion say so. The rest of it sounds petty if said here, its best said on imdb.

Freida looks cute here and its nice she is mixing it up. The girl clearly knows how to dress.

    • Thank you for being the voice of reason here! It’s a fashion site!! And anyway, what’s with these losers taking credit away from her. Luck or no luck, at least she isn’t dressing like Ash. So yayee for that!!
LOVE the look! Especially that swoon inducing butterfly brooch!

  4. I wouldn’t have thought that pink lips would work with so much red, but she is making it look nice.
Pants look too tapered, making her stance look inelegant.

  5. I really want to like this. But I think she is too petite to carry this off.. the suit is overwhelming her. On a taller person I think this would look fab.

  6. Love it! But again she is one of the few who mastered the western fashion eventhough the bag as clutch is not quite working. Perfect look for Tribecca anyway.
PS: I don´t get the dislike, she is really beautiful, & has a very symetric harmonious face + a gorgeous smile. Average looks quite different for sure.

  7. I love the suit and she looks great. She has a great sense of style. I agree about the fendi bag, not appropriate for this outfit. I especially love her casual looks.

  8. I guess when Bollywood bombards the public with actresses who have light skin (either naturally or heavily photoshopped) and colored eyes, people start considering girls like freida with beautiful indian features similar to millions of desi girls “average”. This is why fairness creams and skin bleaching becomes a rage. Ashwariya never did any award worthy work in foregin films and luck played a very similar role in Ash’s career as it did in Freida’s, yet we never hear people claiming that Ash has come this far due to luck.Such a sad reality!

  9. Oh come on people – if anyone could do what Freida did, then why hasn’t anyone else done it? I find it sad that people chose to call HER “just plain lucky” and don’t reserve the same commentary for Bollywood babies like Sonam Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha who were born into the industry and grew up calling Bigwigs “uncle” and “aunty”.
To have made it in Hollywood with ZERO connections prove that she does have some worth. Besides, the Slumdog hoopla was more than three years ago. If she is still surviving in Hollywood, then you can’t put that down to luck.
She beat 100s of girls for that role in Slumdog – it wasn’t just handed to her the way roles are handed to most Bollywood actresses and so has every role she auditioned for since. So good for her!
Oh, and the outfit looks great.
