Chanel‘s theme for Pre Fall 2012 was ‘Paris-Mumbai’ and in attendance was not only Freida but also Sonam Kapoor, both wearing dresses from the label’s Spring 2012 collection.

While Freida did a more casual look pairing her blue dress with black booties, Sonam went for a more formal look pairing her white dress with tights, pumps and multi-stranded pearls (how appropo).

Whose look are you digging more?

  1. Not liking either looks. Not my style.

If I had to pick, I would have gone for sonam’s dress without the sleeves[or make it one sleeved/one shouldered – but definitely not the way it has been presented]. I like bold, structured dresses but teh sleeves look strange.

    • not digging either, either. completely agree on the sleeves issue.

and i feel sonam went horrily wrong knees down with those opaque black tights and pumps.

what’s with the shiny material on freida’s dress? it looks rather cheap, and that colour is not helping it any.

  3. Definitely Freida! Sonam looks like she’s trying too hard and i don’t like the result what-so-ever!

    Freida looks charming

ps: who is the lady wearing Sabyasachi behind freida?

  4. the “fashionista” tag has really gone to Sonam’s head. she has completely lost that natural ease that she once brought to her styling. her looks come off very forced for some reason. the pearls don’t look good at all with this type of a dress. the only people in bollywood who have a good style are neha dhupia, dia mirza, and kangana.

  5. Neither actually. Sonam’s white and cyan color combo looks lovely but that’s about it. The dress itself is weird and she looks like a bird ready to take flight. The black leggings looks horrendous, why on earth could she not skip them?

  6. God Whyyyyyyy !!! Why on earth did sonam chose that dress !!! Its Horrid its tacky its Whteyyyyy !! All mixed together ! She has disappointed big time ! Freida other way kept it simple and shez looking beautiful and far better than Sonam !

Just saw the other front row ppl, I am sure Sonam made a joke of herself over there. And I used to love her for her fashion sense .. Sigh 🙁 🙁 🙁

  8. Sonam looks bad. I hate the sleeves…combined with the necklaces, the earrings and hair do its alll too much. Frieda fares better bcoz Sonam looks ridiculous otherwise nothing great bat her look either…and the booties were a wrong choice for that dress.

    • But I thought the show was inside… with lighting, heating… she is driven to 10 feet of the venue and collected straight after… If she can prance around in a sari in rain and snow in films she can whip off the tights and give her dress a chance!

  9. Sonam is looking super silly. ROFLing on the ‘ready for flying’ comment. I am all for the fact that it’s PnP blog and all but still this one deserved a WTHeyyyyyy!

  10. Contrary to what a lot of the other commenters have said, I actually think both dresses are gorgeous, whatever issues there may be with styling/hair/makeup. Also, Sonam’s tights don’t bother me; they’re weather-appropriate.

  11. Freida just for that face and smile!! Outfit wise… Both not impressive. Sonam does look like a giant bird about to take off. Freida’s is marginally better.

  12. I think Freida looks slightly better. I don’t like the tights, the pearl necklace with that dress, the hair (it ages her), and the makeup (too much blush) on Sonam.

And I don’t think the ladies had that much choice in dresses. I think Chanel PR lend/sent them some dresses to wear to the show.

  13. i am 5 wrong posts away from doubting your taste and style credentials. 1. sonam’s necklaces clash with the busy neck detailing and 2. frieda’s hair n belt just kills it. Girls, seriously, get down to serious fashion dissection and maybe, its time to play down kissing up to these celebs and designers? just sayin…

  14. Definitely Freida over Sonam any day. I love the blue dress – not just the colour but the beautiful, flowy material is gorgeous. It’s just lovely.

  15. Didn’t work for me – I didn’t ‘get’ either dress though undoubtedly both of them are (supposed to be) chic. At least they didn’t wear something obviously boring.
P&P: hate to sound pedantic, but the word is ‘apropos’.

  16. Loving Sonam’s hair plus the dress with the pearls. Not really a fan of her tights though. I think they make the outfit too dark for my liking.
Loving Frieda’s dress plus the shoes. Hating on Frieda’s hair though – Looks too messy!

  17. Well Freida’s seems a bit more down to earth while Sonam’s only looks reasonable on a runway or artsy photoshoot. I can see Sonam is very much into the granny chic craze that’s hot nowadays. I entertained it for a while but now I’m waiting for it to end.
