Of Dresses

Wearing one of her signature body-con minis, Disha attended a party celebrating the success of her recent movie. Matching her eye-make up to the dress, the actor rounded out the look with ankle-strap sandals. Disha can do so much better than the Nineties ‘Starlet’ aesthetic she heavily favors… Here’s hoping she discovers a whole clothing section outside of dresses like these and crop-tops and baggy jeans. Fingers crossed!

  1. I want to go all out and trash this look but I won’t. All I’ll say is that that the outfit doesn’t make her look hot or sultry but rather sad.

  2. First things she needs to discover her ideal
Body type and her sizes in clothes.
Jeans are always too long or baggy
Dresses are always too tight, snug
Tops are always too too short length
Sarees are loosely draped with mostly drooping too low.
Indianwear, I guess when she’s rarely In it it’s fine.

  3. I am surprised Disha didn’t think of some way to show off her waist/midriff, as well. Beautiful girl with an enviable figure but her motto in life (when it comes to clothes) appears to be: flaunt your assets at every given opportunity. Sigh!

  4. My sister often tells me ‘you don’t always have to wear such fitted clothes’ and I always tell her ‘you don’t always have to wear clothes three times your actual size!’.
I get one wants to show one’s fabulous body that one is proud of an has worked so hard on(if that’s her reason). But there are a whole lot of other outfits one can wear and do so.

  5. She looks hawtttt! Yeah too tight, and the girls torturously squished yada yada, but she gives serious body goals!!

But I’m very reminded of Mallika Sherawats Cannes premier lehenga look with Jackie Chan where the girls were overly uplifted and trapped

  6. Sorry, no. The dress is a size small(like she admitted on Insta) and the matching eye make up looks like raccoon eyes. One can flaunt a fit bod in a classy fashion but 99% of bollywood has no clue how.

  7. Her focus like Priyanka at the Grammys was to get buzz. . If she covered herself from head to toe – the preferred choice of this site, she would have been an afterthought or a caption at best. Pretty sure every men’s magazine will give her a 5* rating for her outfit, and she will sit back and watch her Instagram follower number skyrocket from new found male admirers. A calculated outfit that paid of rich rewards the way I see it.

    • My crib exactly! Why do women especially succesful young women feel the need or pressure to cater to the male gaze? To gain Male attention or followers .. is that the only criteria of success for women nowadays ?
Looking at Bollywood and especially at these newbies who barely wear clothes with their bra blouses , thigh high slits , skin tight mini dresses , mouths open in some sultry pose; is that all that remains in femininity nowadays?
Is the confidence in ability and talent so low that the only way to gain attention, and especially the targeted Male attention is to be half naked?

What an absolute shame. I think the best job for a man is to be a photographer ogling at these women eager for Male attention. Sick

And then u look at even Hollywood. Honestly the oscar dresses were true couture . Simple lines , classy and slick. skin show done right.

I am not saying that Hollywood is the example. But largely Bollywood girls are really losing the plot on class , sophistication and style which Hollywood stars still have .

      • A male friend shared a picture of her, the one in her latest dance number. I commented that she’s really pretty and has a great body but dresses trashy. He told me that I was being very anti feminist. I was like – Umm. I’m talking about her fashion sense? Also tut very obvious fact that she dresses for the male audience. Smh.

    • No one is asking anyone to cover from head to toe. If you follow this blog enough the users are pretty smart about fashion .. 🙂

Skin show needs to be done right and can be classy. A bit of cleavage, a flash of leg… but unfortunately most of bollywood dresses like trash, and is clueless.

Agree with “Liaa” below.. Hollywood ladies on the red carpet are far more classy and elegant(think Academy awards). They feel no need to go all out all the time.

  8. I get that her body is her USP but she totally lacks the ability to show it off tastefully. She’s mostly just spilling out of all her clothes.
At this point I don’t even think she needs to be on any fashion site. I’m sure she gets all kinds of attention on social media.

  9. It’s quite sad really that Jahnvi feels confident enough to step out in clothes that are extremely average and unflattering (her block print frumpy kurtas) and still gets praised, while Disha who is much prettier and has clearly worked very hard to get a good body, still has to wear OTT dresses to get noticed, and then gets trashed mercilessly for it. This is what happens when you are an outsider and have to try everything you can to get an item song or a blink and you miss it role, whereas if you are from a film family, you get a fantastic launch in a movie that’s designed to make you look your best.

    • Hmm, this is a fashion site. We don’t care about people’s motivations and why they dress like the way they do. We only care about what they are wearing and I didn’t see many great comments on Jahanvi’s post either, many users were commenting that PnP should stop posting lackluster everyday outfits that celebrities wear sometimes. Unfortunately, Disha’s outfit and makeup IS trashy, it has nothing to do with whether she’s from a film family or not. There are many “outsiders” as well as “insiders” dressing normally and not wearing clothes 2 sizes small or resorting to cheap skin show. I do think they have a personal say in what they wear, which is why we critique their looks and not the people, themselves.

    • This has nothing to do with insider vs outsider or the dreaded word nepotism.
If jhanvi has the confidence to step out as herself, naturally in relatable kurta, sensibly covered thats something the young girls can learn from. Irrespective of family ties

On the other hand theres another girl, seeking attention through her body , feeling the need to go half naked and spill out her clothes and ba made up 24/7 then that too becomes a lesson of what NOT to do.
      Again irrespective of family ties.

Disha is a young star, gf of a star and is glamorous. But she needs to do glamour tastefully.. chic and classy instead of trashy. Theres a huge difference btwn the two. She can do the CK ads and all but her entire wardrobe and every appearance us becoming one huge glamour ad!
