Sari Style

Comment image 17

Dia attended the screening of Parineeta in a black sari featuring a copper metallic border. This feels like a Mangalgiri cotton but I will let the experts chime in since the border style is throwing me off a bit.

She sure looked lovely but anyone else feel like this is such a Vidya look too? We used to see Ms. Balan do black saris with similar style braids so often.

  1. Yes but VB wouldn’t finish off the look in the way DIa here does. The necklace, the drop earrings, the bracelet and the nice watch add nice finishing touches.

VB has her own style – she would wear this look with her wooden beaded bracelets on one hand.

  2. The saree and hair is VB but the finishing touches and that smile is so Dia! She has such a beautifully pleasant vibe about her

    • Doesn’t look like Mysore silk . For one the border is different ( mys silk has only gold border ) and two it’s a bit see thru to be a mys silk

  3. This is not a cotton, the drape looks more like a mysore-crepe with bawanchi-type border, though the zari looks a tad too coppery to be real zari. If they make real zari anymore

    • Again , Mysore silk or Mysore crepe is almost always gold border . I’ve never seen a coppery one . And mys silk/crepe isn’t see thru like this

  4. Vintage Bollywood!! I have a similar saree!! Ladies try Mysore Silk for the silk version OR Khadi Bhandar in Bangalore for a lenin kind of look with the copper zaree!! I have both!!(Budget friendly suggestions)

  5. How lovely does Dia look. This is a very traditional Indian sari look. Calling it a ‘Vidya look” does disservice to all the beautiful women who have donned this look so elegantly way before Vidya. Dia has done full justice to it.
