A Separate(s) Story

Wearing a Proenza Schouler top with Zara denims, Deepika attended a recent event. With her hair in a ponytail, the actor finished out the look with a pair of white pumps from Christian Louboutin. While a part of me loves the starkness of the look, especially the way the clothes play off against the rather sweet hair and make-up… The proportions themselves were an issue. Given the flared pants, wish Ms. Padukone had chosen something with lesser volume on top. Or gone the whole hog, throw on some chunky accessories and given us a complete Seventies feel. As it stands, underwhelming as it was, she can’t be faulted waist-up!

  1. Deepika’s hairstyle does remind me of the 70s. It’s a gorgeous look.. Love the top. Also, I notice she didn’t wear earrings, or a necklace.. but that made the look more focused on her face and hair.

  2. Seriously P&P, you are not going to comment on her very obvious hair extensions which are sticking out like a sore thumb in the ponytail? we have seen DP in ponytails previously, the add-ons look just too fake.
and yes, I’m going to sound like a broken record but seriously when is she going to stop painting her eyebrows on. They look downright comical in the close-up snaps.
Having said all that, I would have liked this look if not for the flared trousers. Even skinny jeans would have worked better with that top.

  3. Dunno if my question will be answered here or even featured here, but isnt the top she is wearing really similar to one of the designs from her own collection featured in Myntra -All about you line!!??

  4. She looks terrible. The entire look is so severe and matronly it makes her look a lot older than she is. Terrible styling. And that hair! Omg.

  5. I love this basic black and white look. Skinny jeans and a longer necklace would have been great but it’s not a disaster. Great hairstyle too. Unfortunately, someone mentioned ‘painted eyebrows’ and now that’s all I can see. What I enjoy about Deepika is her transitions from Desi to western and how fabulous she looks in both. Can’t say that for a majority of celebs.

  6. Not a fan of the way the outfit was styled. Not a fan of the hair. But I have to say I actually love the eyebrows – if you look at Deepika’s pictures pre-big-eyebrows, you’ll be surprised at how different (and better) she looks with bigger dramatic brows. I feel like eyebrows set her apart and frame her face so well.

  7. Hairs giving me a 60-70’s vibe and the makeup looks amazing! I adore that shirt too, just not with the hair and makeup.. Overall it’s a nice bearable look but too mish mashed for me.

  8. I think Deepika got her eyebrows worked on because of her film Bajirao Mastani. She plays Mastani who was Persian with fair complexion and thick dark eyebrows (check Mastani’s original photos on the web). You can see this effect in her song Deewani Mastani. But off screen I must admit it does look very off-putting

    • She doesn’t have to paint her eyebrows all the time if it’s a role requirement. It’s just makeup, not like a change in hair color that you have to support all the time. (Hint : Kat’s red hair)

      • +1 Rightly said. I saw her painted eyebrows in the song Deewani Mastani from Bajirao Mastani. Now that everyone has mentioned about her eyebrows, when I go and see that movie, my OCD triggers by seeing her painted eyebrows and ruins my movie watching experience.
