In Sabyasachi

Deepika attended the Cannes Jury photocall on Tuesday afternoon wearing Sabyasachi with a heavy necklace, also Sabyasachi. Loved the clothes instantly. But, am finding the heavy necklace choice quite out of place here.

I hope Deepika at Cannes isn’t another Vidya at Cannes repeat where everything the actor wore ended up looking costume-ish. Fingers crossed.

What did you think of this appearance?

P.S. Pics will load in a few seconds.

  1. I love love love it! Her face looks radiant and I do love the juxtaposition of the necklace against the fairly simple shirt.

I loved her Louis Vuitton appearance at the jury dinner as well.

    So far, she shines!

    • Couldn’t agree more !!

If I had to, had to change anything, I would change is the length of the pant and those shoes.

  2. I like it. The neck piece could’ve been something more eccentric and not look so traditional. Overall she looks great. A distinct look overall.

  3. I like! It’s fun, funky and it’s not wearing her that I can see. The necklace is actually what makes the look but I like the easy elegance of it overall.
Fingers crossed for the rest of the run.

  4. I wanted to hate it, but I love it. It’s unique, it’s an inimitable Deepika Padukone look. The neckpiece adds the right drama. The head scarf could’ve been overwhelming but it somehow softens the look. Glad her hair is wispy and falling easily on her face. Old world charm – I love!!!

  5. I love everything about her first look. It’s so refreshing and that color green on those pants is stunning. In one of the photos she looks so resort elegant I love this outfit.

    • She’s toxic almost all the time.
Even if we were to critique her fashion on this site, it also means she’s getting that additional amount of publicity.
I think it’s good she’s not featured here.

    • Payal and Priyanka are you now a part of this whole cancel culture/bullying into submission scene now?! Please tell me this is untrue!

What does political or social ideology have to do with fashion?!

  6. You know what ? I love it- the only couple of things I would change (and I’m nitpicking)- I want her to stand straight, I feel like she is slouching and I really want her to stand tall and straight. And second, I kind of think that maybe if the sleeves of the shirt was rolled up it would read a bit more relaxed? OR the heels could be less chunky- like something to just sort of “lighten” the whole look. But honestly this is beautiful!

  7. I think she looks fantastic! It’s off beat and unexpected, with just the right drama. She really stood out on the panel as well!

  8. The look needed a statement necklace. Without that drama, the look would have been fairly underwhelming for a Cannes photocall.

There’s so much happening with this look but kinds goes well together. Good start. Fingers crossed for the rest!

  9. Waist up she looks lovely. OTT but lovely . I’m finding the green trousers too jarring against the rest of the outfit …..beige would’ve been a better choice
Also , as great as she looks ……the outfit seems a mish mash of sabyasachi things .

  10. I love this so much! It’s a quintessential Deepika look but it balances itself out. I didn’t think either of her two looks today are comical or costumey maybe they’ll divide the room but she’s done a good job so far representing us!

  11. DP looks very charming but to my eye the outfit and the styling is the usual Sabya mishmash. In this case Annie Hall meets Padmavat. The combination is not outright jarring but doesn’t appeal either.

  12. the necklace needed another outfit, it’s making the look crowded. In the Instagram pics of this look she looked French chic

  13. Each item on its own looks good but too much all together. I hate what she is doing to her hair. Please please dress like a normal person on a jury not walking the red carpet. So far I am not happy with her look.

Look at the way the other people on the jury are dressed.

    • I looked and DP’s outfit was very normal compared to Rebecca Hall’s green ensemble which was borderline comical but to Rebecca’s credit she pulled it off. DP’s styling is what added the eccentric element else it was event appropriate and would be a snoozefest without some fun styling. Check out Spike Lee from last year. A little fun does no harm! It’s not a funeral lol

  14. I actually don’t mind the necklace.
Deepika always does extra at Cannes, so I hope it only gets better going forward.

  15. Unpopular opinion – Bollywood should just stick to costumes and photo ops at Cannes. They do that best. And leave film making and jury duties to the likes of Asghar Farhadi. Coz Deepika can go all out and go the extra mile into her looks and style coz that is all people will discuss about her.

Now I will sit back and wait for the outraged to attack.

  16. A large lariat or pendant necklace would look nicer given that she has the head scarf which actually elavates the otherwise normal shirt/pant look. She looks nice

  17. Other than the color which goes beautifully with the top, the fit of the pants is so bad! It looks like an Uncleji’s pants from the 80s. Also, makes her legs look disproportionately long.

  18. Such a pretty face.

Deepika, please go back to cocktail days eyebrows and makeup. They were thick but sexy thick, the current ones are borderline scary thick.

  19. I loved the look and I think necklace was needed for the look to really pop as the outfit itself is very under-stated.

  20. The necklace is OTT for this outfit… The outfit seems like Action Replayy movie costume. But DP cud have worked it sans the necklace.

  21. The pants are worn too high up which also makes her look slouchy which isn’t the case because Deepika has a very statuesque posture. Takes a Sabya to make someone like her look slouchy. Wish the shoes were visible.
Not sure how she looked in real, but neck up she looks beautiful esp due to her smile and the necklace

  22. From wishing I had a body like DP to wishing she had a better (stylist or) sense of style, life has come a long way. sigh!

  23. She looks very manly or tomboyish out here… Those pants accentuate her already tall figure and long legs ..and they make her look a bit …I don’t know like less graceful and more masculine…

  24. Perfect except for the length of the trousers and bejeweled pumps .
A bit of an eyesore that. But I guess they wanted to match the jewelry?

  25. On the contrary, the necklace adds the well deserved Cannes drama to the relatively simple outfit. Love the addition of the headband. Sabyasachi outfit looks totally international. And the makeup is to die for!

If I could change one thing, that would be the shoes. Somehow not gelling with the overall vibe of the outfit.

  26. Fourth pic is so high definition. Kudos to the paparazzi and their equipments. Thanks to P&P too for posting un-touched pic. Uplifting to know even celebs with best of resources at their disposal have fine lines/pores. Saying so as I am exactly in same age bracket at Deepika and I too have started noticing the same on my face. Coming to the look, basic stuff something all over Zara n H&M these days, with heavy necklace not going with it.
