In Rohit Bal

Deepika attended her cousin’s wedding recently and was spotted wearing a Rohit Bal floral embroidered sari from the designer’s couture collection.

Love the sari, on the fence about the piped halter blouse.

  1. Exactly why on fence ? The idea of a halter or design or traditional wedding aspect? Asking genuinely.
She has a height, body to carry it well and actually looks quite decent. Also she is young and if she won’t experiment with blouses who should.

    • I don’t like the front design. Also, as a guest of any traditional wedding, I wouldn’t have picked a sheer-ish piped halter blouse with that sari. I’d wear it to the sangeet or reception. But, that’s me. To each their own.

      • Thanks for the reply Payal. I was at family wedding in a small town in India this winter and the young girls have gone quite risqué nowadays. So Deepika donning a halter comes as least shock to me. But like you said, to each their own.

  2. It is safe enough and kinda toned down which is fair coz its her cousin’s wedding! Don’t mind the blouse! At least it is visible. Better than those no-blouse blouse illusions (“adults blouse” a la MAYA SARABHAI) we have recently seen.

  3. She looks great! She is a guest at a wedding and that too in summer in India, so the saree is quite appropriate. As for the blouse, for a celebrity, it’s still pretty toned down as compared to what we see otherwise.

  4. Fine to wear a halter necked blouse but why wear one and then cover it up with the pallu? That means she felt the need to cover up her shoulders, in which case she might as well have worn a blouse with sleeves.

    • Had a look at more pictures from the wedding… And the covered pallu is only during the prayers/near the wedding pyre. As a South Indian, I would do the same – its being respectful. The pallu was left open the rest of the time during the wedding – and IMHO she looked great!

  5. a pathetic blouse on a elegant delicate saree.. for the matter a better sleeveless blouse would have also look much better if she were mixing traditional with cocktail. but this design is the bad thing and not that its a halter, it looks like a bar collar.

  6. In spite of it being sheer, she has covered up modestly. Props to that when all you see are actresses that wear a non-blouse nowadays .

  7. the saree is rather plain compared to the heavy silks around her. It would not be my choice for a traditional wedding ceremony maybe for sangeet or reception. That said, she still radiates beauty and looks like an angel amongst everyone…

  8. She looks divine and stands out amongst the colorful heavy silks. I di wish she had added a little bindi or sindoor. Just the tradionalist in me.
