In Rohit Bal

The Ambanis celebrated their niece’s upcoming wedding with a party that had the who’s who of Bollywood in attendance including Ms. Padukone wearing a Rohit Bal sari. While I love seeing different style of blouses with saris, am a bit on the fence about this sleeveless ribbed turtle-neck version. Just me feeling that way?

More pics inside.

  1. Had the same thought about the blouse but having seen a few pics somehow she makes this look work. She knows how to carry a saree elegantly. My gripe is that she put her heels on after and it’s short at the back.

  2. Has deepika ever worn Anita Dongre or for that matter Vrisa? She is unfortunately so stuck in Sabyasachi and Rohit Bal. I think she will rock AD & vrisa. Pls give us those, DP. 😀

    • I saw this red and cream Anita Dongre Lehenga Sania Mirza wore during her sisters wedding. And this exact thought came to my mind. Why doesnt Deepika wear Anita Dongre? Wish she would wear more earthy bright and cheerful clothes instead of looking so stiff and fierce always.

    • She did wear Vrisa separates during tamasha promotions. Would love to see her in a Anita Dongre outfit! I can imagine Deepika looking statuesque in those gotta patti outfits. Sabyasachi is her favourite designer i guess and i personally love the sabya+deepika combo

    • @Pinky: Exactly! Actually Anita Dongre is like a breath of fresh air in the otherwise cookie-cutter designs of designer pieces in Bollywood. So far I have only seen DP wear collection of the spent forces like Sabya, MM and Rohit Bal (hit & miss is his collection). Also, everyone around is wearing Dongre and even commoners like us quite collectively like AD’s designs so I see NO reason why Ms. Padukone isn’t trying it!

@Alisha: She has worn vrisa during Tamasha promotions? Hmm. I might have missed that but then again it only tells me, how rare are her sightings in beautiful collections by Vrisa designs or by Anita Dongre. While she has the knack of picking a good Sabya almost every time.. or at times making a bad Sabya design look good, you can’t deny she hasn’t really moved beyond these few Bollywood designers. I absolutely LOVE Vrisa prints and the rich fabric and designs of Dongre. Something about them is very earthy, ‘desi’ & very classy! Dongre especially knows how to play with bling the right way.

      • I love Vrisa and Anita Dongre too. Dongre’s designs are never overdone. since i can’t afford her designer clothes, i pick up stuff from global desi (cheap but hey its anita dongre at the end of the day?)

        • Hehe!! I do relate right! Btw, if you indeed are looking for desi Anita Dongre pieces, you can get them at ‘tata cliq’. Online shopping portal by Tata & they have a lot of stuff from Anita Dongre at affordable prices!

          • I mean they retail global desi (Anita Dongre) and some other separate pieces by AD too but the variety of global desi stuff at tata cliq is a lot more than what you will find at the physical retail stores.

  4. Don’t like the saree at all. It looks very drab. Usually deepika kills it in white sarees. I do like the blouse. It suits her frame. But it doesn’t match the saree. This often repeated hair and makeup is unremarkable.

  5. I didn’t like the blouse when her stylist shared an outfit post on ig but after looking the pictures from the venue i think she looks graceful. She carries it well. The hair and makeup is on point too!

  6. Genuine question..with a turtle neck and backless blouse like hers, how does one pin up their pallu?? Btw P&P you shouldn’t cropped Ranveer..

  7. Looking closely at the blouse, it does seem a bit off with the saree. But I really didn’t pay it much mind until you guys pointed it out, because she looks so statuesque! I do feel that hairdo is getting a bit old though.
