In Jigyam

Comment image 1

Deepika attended the Lakhani-Bhagchandka wedding reception in a printed kurta set featuring heavy embellishment from Jigyam paired with kundan jewellery. At first glance, the kurta sure looks striking with the tassels and colors but the more I look at the print, it looks more like a mass scale machine print vs a block print.

Jigyam does some beautiful patola and bandhani pieces but this print seems so out of the their normal fare. Also, don’t get me started on that severe hairdo. Never been a fan of it.

  1. This post feels like it was written just to hate, unnecessarily harsh and zooming in to nitpick. The outfit is resplendent, and she looks amazing.

I do wish she’d move away from the severe hairstyles and the fully covered-up looks (she rarely experiments with necklines either), but this still comes together well. The outfit itself is intricately detailed and beautiful, especially the colour.

I’m just tired of the constant nitpicking this blog seems to fall back on. I remember a time when there was no grace afforded because the looks were “studio shots” and you didn’t think they would translate well off-screen. Now you *think* it’s mass print and not hand print so..it’s not worth even a few kinds words. It’s just that it feels like one is forcing not having anything nice to say.

That said, I do wish DP gave a little more when it comes to styling—she’s not even close to her best. But I also wish the commentary here were a bit kinder, especially when far more absurd looks often get a pass.
