In Ashi Studio

Comment image 71

Deepika walked the red carpet in an Ashi Studio couture gown. Jewel-toned pumps and stunning Lorraine Schwartz jewels complemented the gown rather well. And finally, all that pink fluff was perfectly off set with a sleek updo, smokey eyes and nude-ish lip.

Look, it’s no mean feat to let all that knife-pleated, sculpted tulle not overwhelm you; major props to Deepika for owning it. She made it work and then some!

On a different note, wish her stylist and she picked another Ashi gown, one that wasn’t already extensively used in editorials and been so visible on Instagram. The over exposure killed the drama that should’ve come with this sighting. Minor gripe considering regardless of all that, Ms. Padukone shone.

  2. Overdone.. the color is great n she looks beautiful.. that gown/aerial piece whatever it is supposed to be could have been modified minus the wing like extensions all the way up the shoulders

      • Cannes, oscars, Grammy, all such are opportunities by stylists and designers to manipulate beautiful Indian actors to show their lack of skill by sheer comparitive costumes with Hollywood stars. Very very few are inspiring or awe worthy at all.

  3. lol can you all never have a completely positive response to a post with Deepika? She looks amazing and just because YOU have seen the dress before – that doesn’t mean the rest of us have so it indeed packed the punch that was needed. Her face looks amazing!

  4. I think she confused Cannes film festival with the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro. Color works. Besides that – nothing.
She wanted attention. And like the swan dress on Björk she got what she aimed for.

  5. She looks fabulous! This is drama done right. There are a few things I’d have changed (like her shoes) but for Deepika, this is a look where she took a risk and it paid off!

  6. Fabulous. I haven’t seen this before and my jaw dropped to the floor. Perfect fierce makeup with a graceful confident attitude. The colour is just perfect against her skin tone. Her body looks incredible and she feels sexy out of this world beautiful- its written all over her face and body language.

  7. That ‘V’ neckline has formed beyond perfectly, it can be put on paper but getting it THAT right considering the drama on shoulders is literally a miracle. I think whatever I will say is going to be an understatement. This is so beautiful that it is difficult to get the right words to describe this marvel! What legs man. She should be jailed for looking like this. I have seen Aishwarya taking breath away with her beyond perfect saree +gajra looks.. but this is probably the only gown look till date that has left me breathless and speechless while being an absolute treat to the eyes.

DP, you can kill me now and I’ll take that with a smile!

    • Heyy bluebells! Seeing you on the blog after so long. I saw Deepika’s red carpet video in this and as soon as she stepped in, the photogs went crazy shouting her name! Didn’t see that level of commotion yesterday

      • Wow! I am humbled that you remember me, Alisha. Yeah I started checking out HHC again some 10 days ago after quite some time; you know life hits all of us? So nice to see you and some other readers whose comments I genuinely look forward to! Have always known you as a major major DP fan and rightfully so – this woman is a goddess! I saw the frenzy for this look on Instagram and she deserves all of it. What a diva, what a star.. won’t be wrong to say that Cannes won her this time!

  8. Woah! How stunning is she looking. But yes, more MET appropriate than Cannes. And I’m every pic the direction the papa look at pretty much sums up the Indian presence. We need more films out there than appearances. Not taking anything away from this stunner.

  13. This by far will be a memorable red carpet appearance for a bollywood actor. Deepika looks sensational, head to toe. I love that ‘eat your heart out’ attitude. Gorgeous!

  16. I am about to eat my words about my earlier commentary on her Cannes fashion. She OWNED this look and any look that has 38 comments(thus far) on the HHC post with extreme reactions in my opinion served its purpose – for everyone to sit up and take notice, regardless of how they feel about it. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!

  17. She looks like a Phoenix raised out of a flowerland. Deepika can save this pictures forever in her best appearances. She just looks so damn beautiful. Confidence comes with the right dress, make up naturally which is very obvious here. She looks much comfortable than Metgala appearances.

  18. The thing that bugs me about this design when I first saw the Ashi Studio SS18 is the fact that it looked very similar to a Giambattista Valli Haute couture 14 light pink gown. So not exactly novel looking but gor Cannes this is a good pick to add drama to the red carpet. Deepika can carry it off with elan. But very disappointed with what Loreal makeup artist did with her eyes. Those thick eyeliners and winged eyeshadow is making her look appear tired. I still think that purple gown is her best look for day 2.

  19. This woman looks the best when she smiles. I know they are made and paid to pose and walk in a certain way. But beyond that, there is one thing to smile and one thing to smile with your heart and eyes. In the pics she is smiling, I can’t see beyond that smile. The outfit is okay.

  20. Waist up, with that wing like sleeves make her look like some mythical bird. This goes well with this Met Gala theme . She could have woren that Red gown to Cannes. That gown, although very beautiful dint fit in the theme. She could have just swapped the gowns for these two occations.

  23. This is drama defined in a true Bollywood sensibility. Nothing creative or fresh. This does not want me to wish I looked like that. Maybe again the lack of fluidity in Ms Padukones demeanor. But I am very glad that she hid her ankle tattoo. I always felt that to be rather unflattering.

  25. Deepika looks good here. But I see a lot of fan-girling in the comments here and pretty much every where on instagram on all of her looks this year which is so off-putting. Her marchesa and the Brandon Maxwell gowns last year were far superior and the appearances this year pale in comparison. The looks this time are good but not great. When it comes to Deepika, people are not able to judge her looks objectively because they are fans of her acting/looks/personality.

  26. There’s nothing I have left to say because many of you have said it above! My jaw dropped on the floor and it’s not often I feel that way especially about Deepika’s appearances. This look is cementing its position in her hall of fame! This is high fashion, drama, and elegance personified! The international media is pouring in their love for this show. She literally shut down the red carpet. The colour looks fantastic on her and the emerald provides the perfect visual interest against the pink. I love how she doesnt overdo the “fierce” look…she had so much fun! Ahhh I could go on. I just want to say that everyone is entitled to their subjective opinion but P&P your critique of this look left much to be desired. You know how you pad your comments of Sonam’s terrible outings with defensive justifications, it feels like you do the opposite to Deepika’s winning looks- downplay it. Give the woman credit when due 🙂

    • Oh, it feels good that someone else has also been feeling the same thing. I have seen how her winning looks get a word or two of appreciation, then some random issue is thrown in, which in most cases is not even remotely related. This pattern has become very noticeable P&P, if I am even allowed to point this out.
I reckon this plateform was for objective analysis of people’s fashion choices. Bias against someone shouldn’t reflect itself so openly.

  28. She is a stunner. Love the color of the gown against her skin, the emerald jewelry, kudos for fierce makeup and hair, it does elevate the entire look against the softness of the gown. A minor gripe on the gown, I do not particularly like the bottom half of the gown. Designer should have made it a little longer and a tighter around her thighs. To me the bottom looks like part of a inner slip.
