Wearing a cream Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla anarkali, Deepika received her Priyadarshni Award in Mumbai. Long kundan earrings and gold bangles completed her look.

What’s not to like?

  1. She looks good .. nothing wow… but she needs to change up her hair and make-up when she does Indian wear… its almost always the same.. tiring!!

  2. I wish she’d covered her chest with the dupatta – after all the dupatta is there for modesty. It just feels weird to have it hanging on her arm.
Besides that, the look is perfection and Deepika looks beyond gorgeous!

  3. Yes, I agree with the above comments, I’m not a Deepika fan in terms of acting/looks but she does have some killer outfits. That said, the problem with this look is the cleavage, there’s just something wrong with desi outfits and cleavage show especially as the colours are subdued and it’s quite ‘sober’…

  4. She looks gorgeous! Btw, re. the comments about her cleavage – I’m curious as to what you’d rather have her do? She’s worn a salwar with a plunging neckline and she has a pair o’ boobs so the cleavage is bound to happen. So must she tape over that part or not wear a low neck salwar? On which outfits is a deep neckline acceptable? Also, when do you consider cleavage show acceptable/necessary?

    • When you wear a push up bra to make sure your boobs are surreptitiously peeping out – that’s when it is “unnecessary”! And celebs don’t just wear an outfit and walk out of the door like us- the look is planned much in advance, so they pretty much know what they are doing. The Priyadarshini award ceremony is such a dignified event – unlike all the rest of the filmi shindigs – again totally UNNECESSARY!

    • IKR. I have no idea why ladies (especially Indian) are so scared of other ladies’ cleavage. What exactly is not ‘dignified’ or generally wrong about it?

      • Well, traditionally Indian outfits are pretty modest, so it’s a little jarring when you see someone wear a saree with half your chest hanging out or an anarkali with the boobs in your face.

She should have kept the neckline and the push-up bra, but covered her chest with her dupatta. That way we all win 🙂

      • This is so interesting to me… I too saw the cleavage and thought hmm.. too much cleavage. With the virginal effect that the cream anarkali is giving off it just didn’t really go (if you’re looking at cleavage as an “accessory” per se). It would be different if she was wearing a hot outfit..but I’m just looking at it in terms of a whole outfit and the sexy cleavage look just jarred..

Other than that though I AM surprised at how women seem to be commenting on this blog. Women have boobs… it’s not necessary to cover everything to be dignified or respectful, there is nothing wrong with embracing your feminity and sexuality… these women are not running to be politicians or working in public office – they’re celebrities and I know many NORMAL women who when wearing a lower neck outfit will wear a pushup because why would you NOT want to have cleavage in a low necked top? I mean it’s not like she’s a 60 year old woman with wrinkly boobs showing those off would be a little much.

        • I dont understnd the uproar over the cleavage..When you have lay women in Indian baring their midriffs in public even though their bellies hang below their hoohas…

  6. I like the outfit and the boob show doesn’t bother me. If you have em, there’s nothing wrong with showing em…she looks tasteful and as she is covered everywhere else, she has chosen the feature she’d like to highlight. They’re just boobs: get over it! 😉 Love the work on the outfit, pretty.

  7. Did not like the neckline. It’s too close to the neck at the sides and too deep. I believe a neckline that widens a bit toward the shoulders and doesn’t plunge so much looks younger and more graceful.
