Through The Ages

The recent Femina cover saw Deepika depicting fashion through the ages in six different avatars. Got a favorite?

Ours would have to be the one with the retro waves and the big necklace.

P.S. Thanks ‘why not’ for the image.

  2. THe glamour period has ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS been my favorite 🙂 so yes, the retro waves with the big necklace
she’s very non-engaging though, I find myself bored with even THIS…and it’s a shame too, becasue I thought she had a very strong prescence in OSO

  4. Love the first dress – backless pinky fuchsia, very cool accessories – has the look of another era but is totally contemporary, super sexy! Great idea for the cover’s theme/design to celebrate the magazine’s anniversary.

  5. @pdaervo: I agree with you! She doesn’t engage you.
Look at her hands…they are all placed in the same way. It’s too mannequinish.

One thing is nice about her she has nice poise. I do like the one in pink dress. She looks good in it.

  6. I think Deepika’s expressions are pretty wooden:-( I mean, a closer look seems to say that even if her face gets photoshopped on the bodies of mannequins in these different dresses, it would still bring out the same effect. This might sound harsh, but I do think someone else would have done a way better job

  7. I agree with PeachBellini…at first I just thought she was rocking a bunch of different outfits…and I still think that! There’s not too much distinction between each look.

That said, I’m feeling the one-shoulder drape look.

  8. i also love the pink dress. it has a little jackie o vibe with the wig… and look at the shoes!! it’s original but must be awfully unfomfortable!

  9. Like the first two, specially the pink dress alot. The white gloves look really good.
Can’t really seem to like the other dresses so much.
Also it’s good to see deepika in different hairstyles, otherwise mostly its the same straight hair like in the fourth pic (blue-green dress)

  11. I love the Audrey Hepburn/Pink outfit look. And did anyone notice the heels on the stilettos for the pink dress?? 😮 strange..the retro waves somehow remind me of Madz 🙂

  12. Sorry, but… what theme? Apart from the first two from the 50/60’s and 20’s, none of the others strike a chord. I know it doesn’t have to be costume-y or OTT to go back to a certain period, but these are way too generic.

  13. PLUS, DP sports exactly the same attitude in all the outfits… a little Farrah Fawcett and disco vibe wouldn’t have gone amiss in the 70’s and 80’s poses!

  14. She is so pretty and looks great in the pink dress with short hair. But, there is something missing – no spark. She does photograph really well.

  15. Same expression and same attitude in all the pictures which is why the different looks and clothes do not feel ike they are representing different eras…it’s not only fashion that changed the attititude of women also changed over the decades and I think this photoshoot failed to bring that out and the result is a complete blah.

  20. She looks so great in that pink low back number. She seems like a chameleon to me – depending on her hair style, she sometimes looks like Priyanka Chopra, sometimes like Beyonce, sometimes like J Lo….I mean, always so different.
