In Louis Vuitton Diwali Collection

Come November, Vuitton will be celebrating Diwali by collaborating with Rajeev Sethi to create special window installations that will include hand-painted trunks and limited edition dresses made from vintage saris.

Wearing one already was Christy Turlington at the 25th Biennale des Antiquaires Gala Dinner. As much as I love the idea of using vintage saris, the dress is just not jumping out at me. I guess, the traditionalist in me prefers vintage saris as is. 😛

Looking forward to the installations though. Thanks sony for the Christy tip-off.

  1. Wow that’s kind of exciting that Louis Vuitton is doing a Diwali themed dresses – that being said, this dress is pretty awful. It looks pretty nice belt up but then when you look below the belt, I mean really. Christy Turlington manages to look okay but that’s because she’s a tall gorgeous supermodel – on anyone else this dress would look positively atrocious!

  2. Btw, what exactly is a vintage saree ?

Anyway, i think that would have been gorgeous left as a saree than a dress. Why destroy a pretty saree to that ??!

  3. What a waste of a good saree- not my colours personally, but still…
An aunt ruined my grandmother’s wedding saree (a gorgeous cream and silver Benarasi) from almost 80 years ago. I still have the outfit she got made from it just for sentiment’s sake 🙁 Yes, i grabbed it from her saying it was MY heirloom rightfully!
