Harper’s Nov issue features Chitrangda on the cover in a Fall 2013 Dior, one that was also worn by Sonam for her Business of Fashion 500 feature shoot.

Both these ladies were a great pick to do the gown justice. But while the gown is cover worthy, it needed its moment to shine minus the copy. And by that virtue alone, of the two shoots we find ourselves gravitating more to Sonam’s image. You?

  1. Although the fit around the bust on Sonam seems a little uncomfortable she looks elegant and polished, Chitragada’s face, especially her lips, looks very odd (too much photoshop?) and that hair do is just not working. Also, for a dress as stark white as this the grey background works much better than the white background.

  2. The white dress on the white cover of the magazine doesn’t let the dress pop. Both ladies look good in the dress but Sonam’s picture is better and she looks so statuesque!

  3. There is something… raw, i think about Sonam’s photo. Her hair and makeup, along with the simple grey background creates a striking photo… Chitragda on the other hand looks beautiful. She really does! But the dress doesn’t stand out, so her cover just makes for a pretty picture

  4. I wish the photo-editors had picked an image of Chitrangada where she had been made to pose at an angle where the floral detailing on the flap jutting out from the waist was made visible in all its glory. As it stands, she’s wearing just another white dress. I mean, c’mon, you take a Dior and make it virtually indistinguishable from any other sartorial creation in white.

  5. No disrespect but disagree entirely. I am a huge fan of Sonam fashion sense but that does not change this. The bust fit is better on Chitrangada and her colouring is offsetting the white much better than Sonam IMHO.

  6. Really? It may be the issue of different style of photography and lighting, but I find Sonam’s picture dulls the gown and it’s pop of colour. Chitrangda’s picture on the other hand is perfect as is. Also, the fit around Sonam’s bust area seems a little too tight. Either that or her cleavage just looks strange.

  7. Yes, totally agree with you, Sonam surely does elevate the look. A request once again to P&P, please bring back the old UI, the current one is so dull and boring, the spark is gone.

  8. Looks better on Chitrangada.. Love the bob, the accessories and makeup. Sonam looks like she was left at the alter whats with the grave face and the white-washed makeup.

  9. Yep, Sonam does look better. I think it has a lot to do with the difference in their facial structure..i.e. Sonam’s high cheekbones and long neck. Weird.

  10. well i love Chitrangada, and while she does make the dress look beautiful, that hair and make up is a proper disaster..Like YUCK..too much photoshop on her face..and her hair..Harper’s has a strange obsession with the bob :/ and giving their cover girls horrible hair-do’s
