Chitrangada on L’Officiel:(Un)Covered

Comment image 30

When L’Officiel folks hinted at a Princess Bride theme for Nov, I was 100% sure it was going to be Kareena. Instead, Chitrangada in a pink Manish Malhotra lehenga graces the cover with jewellery by Nirav Modi.

The make-up is quite different from what we’re used to seeing her in. Question is, you like?

  1. Wish it was Kareena but happy that they picked someone like Chitrangada Singh. The only disappointment is that they went too far with lightening her skin tone. She has amazing skin, its really sad that Indian magazines think its beautiful to edit there images like this.

      • Nowadays you rarely see international magazines lightening the skin tone as drastically as Indian magazines.
Indian magazines do it all the time but no one really talks about it, you don’t see online sites picking it up and criticizing the magazine. While if this happened in North America (Beyonce’s photoshopped controversy), everyone would have been making it a big deal and putting it all over the internet.

        • This is not the only time they had photoshopped Chitrangada’s skin tone. They did it to her Vogue May 2012 issue.
The only magazines that kept her with the darker complexion was her FHM & Maxim covers.

  2. With the amount of WHITESHOP going on, it deff looks like thy wanted Kareena. Shame on L’Officiel.

Moving on, the cover isn’t anything to write home about. Lehenga looks very average on CS

  3. I hate this. They’ve made her Katrina Kaif. And the whole notion of photo-shop skin bleaching which this brings to mind makes me uncomfortable. So basically, this is horrible on so many levels.

  4. I hate myself for saying this, but I seriously don’t…First of, the lehenga, then the weird ghostly makeup, and last, the hair!!!I mean are Princess Brides always supposed to be fair and in baby pink??!!I usually looove Ms Singh’s appearances, but here it doesnt even look like her!!!

  5. Chitrangada’s major attraction is her lovely dusky skin color. The photoshop makes her look someone she’s not and it actually takes away from the bridal look. I think heavier makeup with her natural color would have worked much better.

      • Totally agree I also think that her plus point is her skin .. it’s so golden and it gives her such an amazing look… why on earth would they overexpose the shot?! Stupid stupid stupid. Not only the photoshop though every picture that I see of actresses (on different sites) I can tell their makeup color is just SO OFF. Lighter by at least 2 shades on them. We really need everyone commenting on this maybe then they will see cuz I know they read it.

  6. She is such a beautiful women with a gorgeous skin color, why the horrible whitewash? And what have they done with her beautiful hair? All curly with a flat top. Big disappointment

  7. Why do they do this to such a beautiful woman ? Or for that matter , to any woman? It is not just that the photoshopping makes her look nothing like Chitrangada, the whole skin whitening look is regressive and just plain insulting !

  8. Too white and then too pink. Most of the bridal issue covers have been a bit of a disaster from Sonakshi’s Harper’s (i think) cover to this now. Even Elle Marriage hardly looks weddingy. They are not able to strike the right chord

  9. In some parts of the world people wish for a tan. In India some people wish they were white/fair. That is why fair & lovely became so popular even if it never really worked. Back then it was Unilever and now it is fashion mags.

  11. She looks stunning and I never thought the ultra feminine Katrina kind of virgin rose color palette would work on Chitrangda, but she surprises me by how well anything and everything works on her!

Totally agree with the white wash comments above – she has such a beautiful olive colored skin and fab complexion, why would they do it even to this beautiful lady, such a shame. If you have contacts at L’Official, please do pass on the gist of our comments which I am sure resonates the larger public perceptions as well

  12. I agree with all the comments regarding the photoshopping bit. I would have thought that her natural skin colour would’ve helped contrast with the lehenga and made it stand out.

She is a gorgeous lady as is and changing her appearance is doing a great disservice to her.

  13. The lady is beyond gorgeous. Just stop messing with her. Give her a potato sack and she will rock the ass out of it.
