For Better Or For Worse?

I’ll give props to Ms. Jaitley for changing it up every now and then but this time (wearing it Bengali style), it wasn’t for the better. A pity because after a long time, it is a sari we are seeing on her that I like and one that would have looked good if she had just worn it the normal way.

  1. She has made atleast 4-5 appearances on this blog in that very same blouse. Must be a favorite. The Bong style usually does look pretty maybe she draped the sari a little too sloppily.

  2. the sari is really pretty, but the pale face+ridiculous makeup+blingy blouse+strange cutouts on the arm = overkill. celina looks like a bride herself!

  3. How hideous and scary is that (as mean as that sounds). Her eyes look scary and the bindi just adds to it. The rest the less said the better. If PC takes the ‘tacky dresser’ award for the decade then Celina easily gets the ‘scary dresser’ and ‘scary make up’ awards.

  4. that embroidered patch on her arm is nothing short of hideous…she really looks scary to be honest…though I agree that she does try to switch it up form time to time…

  5. I second Suraima. What is the normal way? It’s the nivi style drape. Just because it has become the most common doesn’t mean it is the normal drape–which in turn implies all others are abnormal.

In my opinion, she didn’t do a good job draping it in Bengali style. If she did, it would have been great.

The sari didn’t need to be draped nivi style for it to have looked good.

    • I think what payal meant was that she could have draped the saree in the same style she has now, only better (let the pallu cover her chest area completely)

  6. celina looks really bad in her make up…
i think because the sari is full of heavy embroidry..its kinna falling off her..

  7. She looks awful. That saree is not to be worn bong style. And she didn’t even do it right. Must she wear that decollete blouse? When will she stop wearing ugly contacts? Too many questions…mumble…mumble.

  8. She’s dressed for an Ekta Kapoor serial. Totally OTT. The blouse is too low-cut to look decent on a sari. The sari is lovely but Celina killed it with her huge bindi and scary eyes. I think it’s something about her expression that always makes her look scary. She should try smiling a little bit instead of trying to look “smoky hot” all the time.

  9. This look ages her tremendously. She looks like those villainous mothers- in- law in an Ekta Kapoor TV show. (you know, the ones who are not old enough to have a married son and not young enough to pull off a blouse so low)
    The whole look is ghastly.

  10. poor thing..her intentions are well but she always ends up making some unforgivable blunders. She needs to work on looking more feminine and less like a vamp.

  11. MY EYES! MY EYES!!

tacky ugly sari. tacky ugly arm band thingy. tacky ugly blouse. UGH.

on top of which, the bengali “ek pench” style is NOT meant for this type of sari.

  12. I like the idea of draping it Bengali style — she’s a Calcutta girl — but nothing goes with anything else over here. The saree, blouse, drape, make-up all belong to separate ensembles. Not to mention the fact that she’s MURDERED the drape. A safety-pin on the decollete? Yuck yuck.

      • Haha! true!

I must admit my eyes keep falling on her cleavage.. I have no idea how guys keep their eyes to themselves when I care barely manage that. lol!

  13. @bongbabe – what’s this “ek pench” you speak of? The Bengali style of draping is called “aat pourey” in Bengali. And I agree with the other commenters who thought the use of the word “normal” was weird – the Bengali style, the seedha pallu, the Maharashtrian style are all just as legit as the nivi style.

  15. Wow she SO looks like a serial vamp in that bindi and OTT sari! Someone has to take away her makeup or makeup artist (or both). She looks about 45 with all that spackle on her face. And what is with those awfully fake contacts? Time to retire them already!

  16. now that i think about it, maybe if she would get rid of that permanent scowl on her face and smiled a bit, she would look a tad bit better. although, nothing can really save this outfit.

  18. I like that she seems to like wearing the saree, good for her – but if she had only toned down the makeup and worn a simple blouse she could have looked great. By the way did anyone see the shoes she chose to wear with this? Black court shoes no less!! Thank god you can’t see them in these pics.

  19. Hey, for me it’s a total upgrade! On her, it looks classy if you compare her previous outfits! I was beginning to associate her only with slutty western clothes and sheer saris that looked like plain fabric, not an actual sari. Good going.
