Sorry For The Interruption. (But Not Really.)

As much as we like to stick to fashion and fashion only on these pages, there are times when it’s important to speak up and this is one such time.

We (Priyanka and Payal) stand in solidarity with the students of Jamia, AMU and those students letting their voices be heard all over India.

If you are sitting on the sidelines waiting for this to pass or because it doesn’t affect you or simply because you haven’t educated yourself fully on the subject yet, please pause, take a minute and read up on it. It is important to stand on the right side of history and this is your chance. Read, speak, dispel propaganda, signal boost and amplify what is happening.

It doesn’t feel right to go on blogging as if nothing is happening so we will be going offline for a bit. Please consider this our way of participating in this very important movement.

We are closing comments on this post but hope you do your best, and be part of the change.

– Priyanka and Payal

White On The Red Carpet

Are you recovered from Cannes red carpet yet? We have, even if for the most part it left us generally meh. If there was one thing that stood out to us, it was the sheer number of white-toned gowns we saw during the film festival.

White is a great pick since it tends to really pop on the red carpet, and when done well, it’s high on impact. But on the flip-side, flaws seem exaggerated too. All said and done, Diana in her Amit Aggarwal sari was our favorite for toeing the ‘sari-but-contemporary’ line well. A close second was Sonam whose tuxedo was definitely high on impact, it’s a pity then that the fit on those pants let her down (see what we said about the flaws).

How did you think our tinsel town ladies fared? Have a favorite?

Diana In Amit Aggarwal & Huma In Gaurav Gupta

Aishwarya Rai In Ashi Studio & Sonam Kapoor In Ralph & Russo

Priyanka Chopra In Georges Hobeika & Kangana Ranaut In Maticevski

In Zac Posen

Elvira does Bollywood. That’s the vibe Deepika gave us in her Zac Posen gown, bouffant and dark lip. Campy was the route to take, and that she did. Was she among our favorites from the night? Not in the top 10. But did she do well? Yes. And for someone who always goes for the conventional sexy/pretty, this makes for quite the change. And for that, props!

In Marmar Halim

At the Filmfare Awards, Kajol looked sharp in her Marmar Halim gown. Smokey eyes, sleek ponytail and Outhouse earrings rounded out the look well. If there was a thing we could change, it would’ve been those chunky sandals; weighs down the look unnecessarily. Jury’s still out on the eye make-up though… Still waiting for better images to come through so check back later!

In Ralph & Russo Couture

Alia picked a Ralph & Russo Couture as well for her turn on the red carpet. But unlike Sonam, she had better luck with her choice of gown. A simple updo and sun-kissed/glow-y make-up complemented the gown well. She looked good.

Check back later for more pics.
