In Manish Malhotra

Anya, who plays Yennefer on The Witcher, attended the premiere of the series back in December wearing a sequin Manish Malhotra sari. While I loved that she kept it simple and stayed away from adding more jewellery, I am on the fence about that bandeau blouse. Wish it had a better finishing.

  1. Another example of how the West caricaturizes Indian outfits…especially the sari. She could have worn a normal blouse and added some jewelry.

    • Everyone can wear their clothes the way they want to. We do get to critique their fashion decisions but that’s about it!

    • She is Indian. There is no “west caricature” situation here. She looks graceful and comfortable. She is owning it! No one said saris require jewels or “normal blouse”. Bandeau blouse is nice but does need some polishing/proper stitching.

    • This was the blouse style in india in many regions before independance .Infact prior arrival of the british there was no blouse worn at all. So lets not talk about how indians are supposed to dress like. The style and “culture” keeps changing with times, and we should too

        • It’s common knowledge. Look up pre-colonial paintings or text illustrations and you will see that women mostly wore bandeau style blouses.

  2. Yet another Manish Malhotra sequin sari (and yes, the blouse is boring) but the sari is neatly draped and Ms. Chalotra looks gorgeous.

  3. Of all the sarees in the country to choose from, she had to raid Nirupa Roy’s Deewar Ma costume..but wait at least that still had a teeny weeny border on it. Looks very bad and am utterly unimpressed. What a wasted opportunity for the wearer and weaver.

  4. Found it very captivating. Maybe because her makeup looks minimal, she looks comfortable and pretty. No distracting jewellery or accessories or overly styles hair

  5. I really like it, bandeau blouse and all. It looks Grecian, with a certain austere purity to the lines. Ms. Chalotra’s serene young face is ornament enough.
