Going Green

Comment image 30

When we first spotted Angelina in her pashmina, we just couldn’t stop gushing over the gorgeous green color of the shawl! She was in that same shade of green at the Cannes Film Festival, this time in a Max Azria Atelier gown, and boy does she look divine!

And that shade of green, whether in a pinch, or a whole lot, sure looks fabulous! I want.

  1. ah! checked your site right on time! i was hoping you would put this up real soon! i have never gushed over a color so much i tell you, and neither have i called anyone’s look “perfect” (do you see me holding up my score card saying “10”?!) well, that green makes that dress and the woman wearing that dress happen all by itself. jolie is glowing. makes me want to stay pregnant all the time!!!!

  3. I LOVE this mehendi green. thank you for acting so quick Priyanka, you’re the best. Angelina sure does look “divine” and ethereal….the gown’s perfect for her!! kudos to her stylist. A little bit of GOLD jewelry would’ve been “sone pe suhaag” but it’s angelina so with or without jewelry, she looks beautiful. 🙂

  4. I wonder what your take would be on the same shade of green..if some celeb back in India was to flaunt the same..like I said I wonder…because quite often I feel things are appreciated more when worn by someone in the west.
    Just a thought!

  6. Yeah, lovely colour!
There used to be a delete function for commentators in the blog, is it possible to have in this site as well?
It’s just that I click to comment and feel like repeating the new comment which is posted few minutes ago. I also happen to make spelling errors as well and I am annoyingly correcting sometimes.
If it’s hard to program the function, it’s ok, just suggesting.

  7. this is to meghna….and i speak for myself…..i have always been crazy about green, especially this particular shade. me giving it a thumbs up has nothing to do with the fact that a westerner is wearing it (in fact, never even thought of it till you mentioned it…..funny….). i will gladly give the same kind of attention to anyone looking good in anything unique, be it color or design. hollywood actors always wear striking shades of yellows, oranges, violets……i wish i could say i have recently seen any kind of variety on the bollywood red carpet. if i did i would applaud just as loud. the way i see it, fashion has nothing to do with caste, creed, color or race.

  8. I kinda agree with Meghna about colors being appreciated when donned by western celebs but called hideous on Indian celebs. Case in point is Vidya Balan when she showed up in an orange number. Agree that the bling on her kurta looked hideous but the blog owners especially called out the orange color as bad looking. Fast forward to a month or two and we see an entire post on yummy yogi orange with blog owners going gaga over the color. The hermes and jill sander dresses were the exact shade of orange that Vidya had on. This is not to defend Vidya because she did not look good but to point out the subtle desi bashing that goes on here. Too insecure, are we?

  9. AWW! Can anything get more beautiful than that?

It’s not just the color or being Jolie…It’s the tummy too. Beautiful! absolutely soothing.

  10. I agree. The blog owners have repeatedly bashed Indians while simultaneously praising Westerners (never the other way around).

  11. I love this color too. Don’t forgot bollywood women many times ruin the look with too much makeup, bad hair and way too much jewelry. Jolie is simply elegant here.

  12. Yeah this color looks good with the pale skin. I don’t think it would work as well on tan desis. She is too gorgeous though…

  13. she looks good 🙂 I LOVE this color.
You know what, I like this without the jewlery because with her olive skin tone, and brown hair and being pregnant, she gives of this really natural, mother Earth feel. 🙂

  14. Hey Sherry…glad to know your opinion..however my observation is directed towards the blog owners…NOT the viewers. The content writers and owners, I strongly feel need to be just as unbiased as you say you are..I am a regular viewer of this website…they are doing a commendable job…but somethings are obvious and form a predictable behavior..which make me wonder!

  16. Meghna,
Between the Sarah Jessica Parker post, which was a nay for us and the Angie post, which was a yay, I am surprised that you find us biased already. Guess, we will never make everyone happy!

P.S. Both post were put up just because some readers really asked for it otherwise we make it a point not to cover hollywood(Read the About page for why..). You also have to note that Hollywood stars have an entourage of stylists whose sole purpose is to make sure that the star comes off looking great when making an appearance. That culture is still not there in India but is slowly starting. Until then, we will keep posting our opinion of what we think someone looks like, good or bad.

    Manini,
Just to clarify, it was the orange with all that bling on Vidya that was overbearing. Jill Sander and Hermes went with a lightweight material and kept their design simple which made the color pop in a good way unlike the Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla outfit that had too much material and too much bling.. We don’t “desi bash”…We just “bash” desis when they go wrong with their clothes..

  17. Amen Payal!! very well said! Since fashion has no boundaries I suggest that this website should’ve no boundaries as well. Whether it’s India or US or any other countries, fashion is fashion and people are bound to comment and emulate. That’s why this site exists.

I do not think that people especially Payal and Priyanka are biased towards Indian celebs or personalities.

I agree with another poster that this shade of green is particularly suitable with fair skinned people than dark skinned ones.

  18. Angelina looks great-love the way the gown falls but its that serene, content look on her face that makes her look beautiful…maybe its the pregnancy.

  20. Angie looks- starved to me…Sorry, no offense meant. The color though it lovely- I love all shades of green though lime green’s my favorite…This one’s good too..But I really don’t get Angie’s appeal..She way too skinny and her tattoos too over-the-top and trailer-trash-ish (to me)..
